I know the T3 is much less but I didn't reduce my armour for that long, probably 2 weeks or so. << When you go to full replacement with thyroid, your own thyroid will actually shrink in size and thus it's ability to produce thyorid hormones. Now it CAL come back to at least where it was functioning PRE-thyroid treatment, but it takes up to 2 momnths to do so, os it is functioning even less than it was before you started Armour. Guest guest
Ok, I never thought about the ramifications of dosing armour high enough to suppress function and how that would effect my body if suddendly dosing lower....well now I know. I am having classic hypo symptoms, mainly, bloating, water retention, constipation. How long will it take to feel better?? I hope not 6 weeks?? I am back up to 3 grains but only started that a few days ago. How long will it take for the body to build up the proper amount of thyroid again?? Oh vey, I guess I learned another lesson the hard way...eventually I will muddle through this debacle that is my thyroid! > > >>I thought that I was > relatively safe in decreasing dose of armour for a little bit as > doesn't the T4 last for at least 6 weeks in the body? Guest guest
Ok, well thank goodness it doesn't take 6 weeks to get back to where I was. Ok, I was planning reducing HC again this week but it is probably a good idea to stay at 10mg for now, right?! How long should I stay at 10mg? For another week until I adjust to 3 grains again? I realize it is quite a jump to go from 1 grain to 3 grains but I have only been coasting at 1 grain per day for less then 1 week. BUT I also don't want to overshoot my sweet spot. Should I just try for 2 1/2 grains instead of the full 3? What do you think? > > >>How long will it take to feel better?? I hope not 6 weeks?? Guest guest
>>Should I just try for 2 1/2 grains instead of the full 3? << In light if recently lowering HC I would stay at the 10MG HC for now and maybe go to 2.5 Armour. Adrenals will be TENDER and vulnerable for several months after healing, so go reall easy on them or you will end up sick agian. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Ok, will stay at 10mg. I am having lower back pain too but I don't know if that is adrenal or thyroid related. My body goes through withdrawl symptoms and then stops so I am not increasing HC at all but it's almost like my body rebels a little bit and I have a few rough or hard days then everything gets better. But I am very excited that I have dosed down from 30mg and have not gotten sick or felt that I needed to increase HC. The only VERY discouraging thing is the weight gain but that is an armour issue (I hope) My heart rate is up due to the increase in armour so it is definitely wise to stick with 10mg for now. How should I dose it? I have been doing 2.5mg 4x per day with the last dose being bedtime...should I do it differently? How should I dose 7.5 and 5mg?? Oh, and how long should I stay at 10mg? Thank you!! > > >>Should I just try for 2 > 1/2 grains instead of the full 3? << > > In light if recently lowering HC I would stay at the 10MG HC for now and maybe go to 2.5 Armour. Guest guest
Hi, I hope you didn't mean you're going to drop 5mg at one time. Maybe this works for you, and if it does, then bless you, but most of us find that dropping 2.5mg every week or two works best. Have you been dropping 5mg each time? How far apart have you spaced your decreases? ---------------------------------------------------- Hello Val! You may remember me from STTM, I am maddiesmom. Well I have successfully tapered down to 10mg HC from 30mg where I am currently holding, I am going to 5mg tomorrow... --------------------------------- Building a website is a piece of cake. Yahoo! Guest guest
Val....ok, since increasing the armour last Friday up to 2 grains from 1 grain and then the consistent, I am more tired then usual. Is this just my adrenals reacting to upping armour? I am still at 10mg and do not feel any physical signs that I need to stress dose or increase the HC just a little tired...and lower back hurts but I guess those could all be hypo situations too, right? Am I going to go through the whole feel worse before I feel better thing in regards to armour? I remember there was a time when 2 1/2 grains felt better and then increasing to 3 caused more hypo as full suppression was/is ocurring? So am I going to have to deal with that again just because of lowering armour for a short time? Thanks! > Hi, > > I hope you didn't mean you're going to drop 5mg at one time. Guest guest
Well the decrease in thyroid was gradual and temps were still staying in range so I thought reducing thyroid was the right thing to do at the time. The consistent nausea, fast heart rate and high BP have disappeared. The back pain is much less today as well. so far today I have taken 5mg HC. 2.5 upon waking and another 2.5 at 11:30. My temp just now was 98.6 at 2:00PM. These are all good signs that I am doing the right thing, correct? > > Are you graphing your temps? Guest guest
I'm glad it's working for you, Maddiesmom. I am tapering down from 27.5mg of HC a day, and I am now down to 7.5mg a day--down to 5mg a day in two days. I tried the faster route and didn't feel so good, so I slowed down. I agree with you--whatever works, works! maddiesmom wrote: Actually, I did drop 5mg the last time I decreased and it did work for me. I started at 30mg and worked my way down by decreasing 2.5mg every 7-10 days until I hit 15mg then I went from 15mg to 10mg without a hitch. I know what has been said works for most people and I say what works for each individual whether that is outside the norm or not...works. Thanks for your note! Guest guest
, good for you in getting down to 7.5. I have yet to get there as I am still at 10. How are you dosing the 7.5?? How will you dose the 5mg?? I too tried a much faster way (think cold turkey...also think stupid) and got very sick and then another time I tried to wean I felt sinus issues which I thought was low cortisol to I would always up the HC again but what was really going on with the sinuses is that is my body's way of initially reacting to any change and I have to wait it out a few days and things get better. The waiting is the hardest part and I didn't realize that was happening until I fought it out and felt better, then the light bulb clicked on. It's interesting, going from 20mg-15mg was hard, 15mg- 10mg was easy and now I'm thinking 10mg-7.5mg will be hard as I am adjusting to higher amounts of thyroid too. I just really want to be off this HC. Good luck to you in dosing down to 5mg! Keep in touch! > Hi, > > I hope you didn't mean you're going to drop 5mg at one time.
