Guest guest
My second toe goes numb all by itself for like a half hour and then it goes away. Could this be diabetes related? I told the doctor about it and she checked it but there was feeling in it at the time and it was not numb then. Is that how it starts? Guest guest
Since I lost 40 pounds, I can't sit on certain surfaces without my legs and feet getting tingly/going numb. My 'sitting bones' have much less padding, so when I sit it can be painful too. I take my shoes off when I see my DE so she can check for neuropathy, but I told her that I wouldn't be able to feel it for the problem above. So she had me lay down, and got a much better result. Told my daughter about the problem, and she commiserates: she's 110 pounds soaking wet, and wears a size 3 or 5. She's always been lean and long-boned, and loves that her mom knows how it feels (hurts!) to sit on some chairs, etc. I have to take a pillow with me when I sit on our porch. Anyway, it makes her even more proud of her mother! <smile> Hugs, Type 2 Oct. 2003 diet and exercise no meds (currently battling stomach flu; bg's are very good -- have been making sure I eat in spite of the nausea)
Guest guest
Hi Jany: For me it started with feeling like I was almost walking on cotton. I knew my toes and feet felt different but couldn't figure out why. Six months later I was officially diagnosed type 2 with blood sugar around 430 or so. This was about 6 years ago. The doctor checks my feet and toes at each of my quarterly checkups with that pin prick thingie. When she touches some spots with it I can't feel it. For me it has been permanent loss of feeling in various places on my toes and feet, not at all something temporary. Guest guest
For the last few months my feet and toes and legs fall asleep and tingle easy. I thought it was just poor circulation. Maybe its not. My feet and toes even do it when Im moving them. Its fustrating. fran
Guest guest
I remember when it first started to get numb (my toe). It felt like it was resting on my sock with a crease in it. Then I noticed it was feeling the same way but I wasnt wearing a sock. I checked my shoe and the sole was smooth. I didnt understand it then. Now I just accept it and when it happens I know it will go away. So I suppose this is a warning of the diabetic neuropathy, right? Guest guest
Possibly it is a warning. Because each of us is unique I sure would not be able to tell for sure in your case. Guest guest
Though I don't know what kinds of numbness could be diabetes, what you are describing sounds like possibly a pinched nerve. Possibly part of your shoe is pressing against part of the sole of your foot and causing this. Yours, Dora Austin, Texas villandra@... Guest guest
Dora and Ken Well, I guess at this point, its wait and see. I will keep an eye on it. Hopefully its the lesser of the two evils. Jany Newbie 2b
