Guest guest
And after responding to Margi's post, I was reminded to tell all the exercisers out there - DO NOT JUST DO ONE TYPE OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY. Your body will get used to that type of exercise, become more efficient at it, and you will burn less calories doing it! Ok, this is great for example if say you were training to compete in a marathon. You go out and run every day, so your body would get used to running, and burn less calories doing it - great for the marathon when you want to spare those calories for the end of the race. BAD if you are trying to lose weight - we don't want to spare those calories! So, some days go out for a walk or whatever you usually do. Other day, try a low impact aerobics tape, do some kickboxing moves, aqua jog or swim in a pool or do water aerobics, put in a CD you like and dance, go to a steep hill and walk up and back down and repeat that 5 or 6 times - whatever. We want to keep our bodies as inefficient at the type of exercise we are doing to burn the MOST calories possible with it. If you constantly change, you will be working and toning more muscle groups AND burning more calories. That being said, change intensity levels too. Sometimes, go longer and maybe slower than you usually do. Other times, do intervals of higher intensity work in with your regular speed. Sometimes go overall higher intensity but shorter. Remember, in the calorie burning world, 'change is good'.... --Amie
