Guest guest
Theresa, My sister was on Depo. It made her gain weight like crazy and no matter how hard she tried, she could not lose it. When she stopped getting it, she lost 70 lbs in 5 months with a diet very similar to SB (it was prescribed by her doctor). She now does the Nuva Ring (sp?). You wear it for three weeks, take it out for a week and have your period and then put it back in for another 3 weeks. I think she is pretty happy with that, she can't remember to take the pill either. B. in SC
Guest guest
i've heard of a LOT of people gaining with Depo. I think i lost when I used Demulen (another birth control) but am staying off all pills unless last resort. I do go on them sometimes because PMS get so bad, and to get my cycles back. Guest guest
Your right. The big V is very simple. My hubby had it done 7 months ago. We drove 2 and 1/2 hours to get it done because we were moved from Kingman Arizona to Phoenix Arizona after we had it scheduled and approved before we moved. All it took for my hubby to get back home was an Ice Pack and a pain pill. He was fine the day after. My hubby is going in next Tues for the big V.....and it is so simple for them. Local anesthetic, snip, done, back to work in 2 days if all goes well. Okay maybe some pain/swelling. But much, much more invasive for a woman. Down and out for a few weeks and general anesthesia. I'll have to let ya know how he does. He fought it a little bit, but then made the appointment all by himself......Kim G. ----- Original Message -----
Guest guest
Hi guys-HI Rapunzel, I'm officially re starting phase 1 today! I started about 2 weeks ago but messed up down the road and never fully finished out my 2 weeks but managed to lost about 3 lbs. But, after yesterday and christmas eve i'm sure I'm up another 10lbs!! I need to lose about 10 -15 lbs. My main goal is to get myself back in to a healthy lifestyle. I work out a lot about 5 days a week, heavy weight training, cardio, kickboxing, spinning, etc. Anyway, Rapunzel what pill are you on? I was on othro tri cylcen for 2 months and gained like 7 lbs I went to the dr flipping out and crying lol-she did tell me the only way to find out the best pill for you is to experiment-so she gave me yasmin and those 7lbs plus about 5 more flew off. So, you really need to keep experimenting with diff pills if ur gaining weight on another. Every pill has a different effect on everyone...Good Luck! Guest guest
Hey there-I went straight from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Yasmin-the orthro tri had made me gain about 7lbs water weight-I was ALWAYS bloated which to me is the worst thing in the world. What was the point of doing 1,000 crunches if your just going to be bloated. As soon as i switched to yasmin those lbs(water weight) came right off, at that point I was kind of watching my weight but not so much and i had dropped a few more. So I honestly don't know if it was how my body reacted to the yasmin. I know it took a while for it to get FDA approval in the US b/c so many people were losing weight from it in other countries-my dr told me that -as soon as she told me that I was sold!! lol I really do love it-it also helps with your skin, if that's a concern as well. I really don't have skin problems but maybe that's why! lol LIke I said everyone reacts differently to every pill-so it's worth a try! good luck! Guest guest
Anyone find that they gained a lot of weight on the regular pill? I put on about 5 lbs which doesn't seem like much but I'm only 5'2" and it shows! I feel more bloated, too, just not as toned as I used to be. Michele -----Original Message-----From: rose9796@... Guest guest
Some people do gain weight. Some people (like me, I think) lose weight. It kind of depeds what pill you are using and your individual body type. I am 5 ft 3 and can tell if I am 5 pounds bloated, for SURE. -Amie From: Michele Sent: Sunday, December 26, 2004 7:29 AMTo: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Subject: RE: Re: ot-babies Anyone find that they gained a lot of weight on the regular pill? Guest guest
Thanks, Amie. I guess I'm sensitive to the hormonal fluctuations because I can easily gain 5 lbs from PMS as well. Guest guest
Hey! I think we emailed before. A LOT of people are starting or going back on phase 1 today (or next weekend, depending) so you're in good company! I'm curious about yasmin, as I have a pack sitting on my desk but don't want to take another medication for anything so have been putting it off. Still I've had one cycle since June and my doctor I think wants me to be on a birth control to try to help bring them back. I was on demulen for eight years and gained weight when I went off it. I think I have a hormonal imbalance that yasmin might help, but heard it can make you b*tchy, too. Wondering if you noticed that or any other negative side effects. Also, do you think the weight you lost is 'real' or more just water loss? How fast did the weight come off, too (I've heard that from others as well)? THANKS!! Amie From: Jeannine626@... Guest guest
yes, i'm tempted to try it, just am leery of taking any more medications as i'm trying to get off my final one now (thyroid) and i've heard BC pills interfere with thyroid meds. but also, i'm going to a new dr. in the end of march who is going to test all my hormone levels, and so i am thinking of staying off bc pills until then because they will throw the readings off. I do know it's easier to lose weight for me sometimes when i'm on bc pills, i think it might partially correct an imbalance i have, but at the same time, not sure what the long term effects of being on those are as well. so... considering it ... but THANKS for the info! -amie From: Jeannine626@... Guest guest
Hi there, I have to say that I love the Yasmin pill and yes it has helped me keep the bloating to a minimum. I have also found that this particular brand does not make hormonally crazy the way that some pills tend to do. Have a great day everyone, Joanne
