I have been making soap, mostly M & P for about a year now. Made my 1st

batch of CP in Jan. My day is just not complete if I don't do something

concerning soapmaking. How did I ever live without this wonderful

hobby???

I am looking forward to all the learning and hope to be able to help

someone with answers as well, when ever I can.

Where in Louisiana will you be moving to ???? I live just north of andria

I thought I would introduce myself. Being a list junkie and all, I usually

lurk for awhile before posting! My name is Lori and I have been making soap

for 5 years. CP goat's milk is all I do. I have a business " Irish Hearth

Soaps " which I now do full time. I love soap and all soap related things. I

am married with 3 animal children (2 birds, 1 cat). I have 3 college degress,

none of which are related to soaping or business! (wasted money, I hate to

think <g>). I live outside of Chicago, just moved there from Colorado.

So that's me! Good to meet you all!

Theres a few ways to do a loaf. Pringles containers work nicely (one time use

though). Also Tupperware loaf container#12 (hard to find but you can get

online), Pampered chef tube bread molds- these are star shaped and some other

shapes as well, and I have also gotten plastic micro wave meatloaf pans in

the dollar store. I also got a PVC downspout-about 12 inches long and they

make a real nice shaped bar.It is really not hard to do; I for one am scared

of cold process & lye!!

<< Would you share some techniques of embedding

toys in soaps? >>

Sure. I have gotten little necklaces, pencil toppers, bugs etc from a party

store. Oriental trading is also a good source. I like making little ones for

the kids. I got egg poaching plastic pans in the dollar store and have also

used the bottom half of a plastic cup. I leave the M & P clear or color with

gold mica just to get a bit of a sparkle. Pour the M & P and wait til it forms

a slight skin on top, then pull back skin and insert the toy- this will let

the toy float a bit- if the soap is too hot it will sink. Remove that little

skin. Voila! I also use kids types of FO's- cherry, banana, chocolate,

bubblegum etc.

who is still practicing!!!

I think it was Sweetcakes. If it is not, i will email you back tomorrow. Did

this discolor melt and pour? It smells a little like double bubble, but has

minty tones to it and I did notice if you have a open area on the skin it

does tend to tingle but not really bad enough not to use. I even like using

it :)
