Guest guest
Well Memory I am glad that you found us but am sorry that you have a reason. You will find that we are a very supportive and fun group to be with. If you have something going on with your disease, you will probably find someone here who knows something about it. What is your creatinine level? Have they told you how aggressive your IGa is? Keep up the communication with the group. Again, welcome. hi My name is Memory and I was diagnosed with iga nephropathy when I was 12 years old. At 23 I am a very happy mom of 2 healthy children. I have occasional spells but overall I feel like I'm in good health. I am looking for people with the same health issues I have.
Guest guest
Hi Memory, Welcome to our group. You were diagnosed at a young age. I am very thankful you were able to have your children before you had any significant problems. I am glad to hear that you are not having any significant problems. I was first symptomatic as a young teen, and now in my 40s, I still am not on dialysis so you can definitely live a very long and very full life with IgAN. Do you have any idea what your creatinine level is? Hopefully you still have lots of good renal function and will continue to have for many years to come. Welcome again,
Guest guest
Hi , thanks for the welcome!!! I am very thankful to have been able to carry my children full term. When I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter I had a blockage in my right kidney. My doctor had to put in a double j stint. It was removed when she was 2 weeks old. My second pregnancy had no complications. I know that everyone will think I'm stupid for this but I don't have the slightest clue what creatinine levels are. I have not been to the renal clinic in Birmingham since I was 17 years old. I do have a family doctor that I see when I need to. My last visit was Wednesday and he called this afternoon to tell me that he scheduled an ultrasound for my liver next Friday. I had no idea that there was anything wrong with my liver. Can anyone tell me if there is a connection?????? I did take prednisone for several years but I don't know if that could cause damage to anything. Most of you probably think I'm dumb but I have never spoken to anyone that has iga nephropathy. I have been told that there are only 3 doctors in Alabama that specialize in the disease. They are all at Childrens Hospital. I need to go for now, thanks to all that replied to me... Memory
Guest guest
Not sure what the liver has to do with it. The only liver testing I had was to occasionally check for any signs of medication damage, and that was just a blood test. On the other hand, I did have a few abdominal ultrasounds, which probably included looking at the liver. I had these to investigate pancreatitis problems, and then there was one last year as part of my transplant evaluation. I've never heard of anyone on this list actually having liver problems associated with IgAN. Good luck, and if you find out why your doctor ordered it, I would be interested in knowing. I hope you find this site as useful as I have. Given that you have had IgAN for 11 years, I look forward to your insight! Guest guest
My husband also has sleep apnea, with a lot of snoring. I have noticed recently that the 40 pounds he has lost so far on the SBD has really improved both. He used to wake me up 2-3 times per night when he would stop breathing. It's been a few months since he has awakened me. The snoring has also improved greatly. Kris--FL

Guest guest
Hi Terri, I have sleep apnea as well and have been using a CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) machine for close to 10 years now. I've often wondered how weight loss would affect my sleep apnea. Sleep apnea isn't *caused* by being overweight, but being overweight certainly contributes to the severity of it. Welcome to the group. I'm new here too and this is a terrific group for adivce and support :-) Debbie > Hi, > Just joined this group. I am married to Don. We celebrated 41 yrs in June. But i took 1/2 grain all at once (brain fog) and my up mood shifted downa notch or two, and i was suffering the complusove thoughts again and generally feeling downish.<< Sounds liek the Armour caused adrenal stress whihc then stops ANY thyroid from getting in the cells. When this happens the temps drop and more severe low T3 symptoms start. I would drop that dose to 15MG and possibly take it twice a day if you have not this severe reaction to the `15MG dose. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets

Guest guest
Hi Val, Thanks for that. Im taking Nutri Thyroid too. I have split the does 2 x 15mg, one morning and one afternoon. Im ok but not as happy ...do you think because of my adrenals (I have only been on Cortef 15-30mg) for nearly two weeks, its a bit early to start Armour? Or should i just stick with the 15mg a day. It was so marked the drop i felt it!! I am so desparate t get my thyroid up and running, get rid of this water and level off my hormones. I really want to take Armour because i know it can do all these things for me. Or maybe i dont need Armour and that the adrenals are starting to do their bit - im confused - please give me some help as always! Guest guest
sorry Val, Also, will the HC help with the water retention, and in have noticed i have been a little more edgy since i started taking the Armour. I dont want to question Dr P because he is the oracle but the feeling was so obvious. How long does Armour stay in your system.
