Guest guest
Herseys chocolate syrup is GF. I am not sure about soy because that is not an issue here but is GF.
Guest guest
Cheryl--Interesting question! I'm SURE CD is as undiagnosed in many other countries as it is here. But no--the studies I've seen are all worldwide--Africa, South America, Asia, Europe, the countries such as Norway, Sweden, etc. VERY widespread. Guest guest
Cheryl--It's laughably easy to make your own chocolate syrup! I've done it myself many times, and it takes only a few minutes. You use Hershey's cocoa powder (not a premade mix!), regular table sugar (although you can probably use a "healthier" granulated sugar), water, pure vanilla (GF, NOT artificial), and maybe one or two other ingredients. It's been a while and I've forgotten. But if anyone's interested, and no one else does, I can post the recipe later. Marilyn
Guest guest
Cheryl--Funny you should ask! I actually thought of adding my chocolate syrup to the almond milk after I wrote this! DUH!!! LOL! Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious to me, but wasn't! Marilyn
Guest guest
Hershey's syrup is also soy free --God Bless Them. It is absolutely the only pre-made mainstream chocolate I can eat anymore. Life gluten free is tough enough... but to make someone do without chocolate...... cruel. Cheryl in Tampa > Herseys chocolate syrup is GF. Guest guest
--For advice on eliminating "artificials" (which we do here as well), the Feingold Association has been WONDERFUL. Their website is http://www.feingold.org/, if you want to check it out. While they do not eliminate gluten, and do not eliminate dairy on the "regular" Feingold diet, they DO strongly support a GFCF diet for those kids who need it. Many moms who write in to the Feingold Parent Support Board are also doing GFCF with their kids, for various reasons. As to what to feed instead of cheese and yogurt, it's more difficult, to be sure, but not impossible. I just eliminated those two things here myself, as a matter of fact. On weekend mornings, we slept in while the kids were allowed to get up and watch TV or play quietly. They knew they were allowed to get fruit, cheese, minimuffins, yogurt, yogurt drinks, or water bottles from the refrigerator while they waited for us to get up. We're down to fruit and water bottles, and minimuffins when I have time to make them! Time to rethink things! I actually have to run and pick the boys up from school now, so I don't have time for a longer answer. Plus I want to give it some thought. I'll answer you in more detail later. Just wanted to say I hear you and I am there too! Marilyn
