Just wondering what some other 'motivators' are that people use to keep themselves on track? I think it might be helpful for people to know over the holidays to keep going. I liked the idea of carrying around a picture of yourself that you like.

I have to admit this one - go ahead and laugh at it. I keep a photo on my computer desktop that was recently taken of me on a beach. I really didn't like the way I looked in the photo, and so I took it into Photoshop and hacked the photo to be more like what I will look like on the beach. Ok, I would not show it to anyone and it's not done well, but it gets the point across. Sometimes when I am sitting at my computer doing work, I look at this photo of the 'new me' sitting on the beach on the Caribbean, and picture what it will feel like when this actually becomes reality!!

Amie- I have three photo's up around my house- one from 10 yrs ago

when my hub and I went to Jamaica- in a two piece laying by the pool-

I think I was like 125 pds- but no means skinny- as I'm only 5'1 " -

but I looked pretty good. The other is my son's second birthday- i

was back down to around 128 - looked really great- and the third is

me about 1 mth before I started SBD- 162 pds and looking dreadful!!

I look at them all the time for motivation!!

Just wondering what some other 'motivators' are that people use to keep themselves on track?

Amie, my motivator seems to be my 14-year-old son. He is so excited that I'm doing this and checks on my weight loss all the time. When were contemplating going out to eat he will say "can you eat there Mom?" Very supportive and luckily he loves veggies so our family eating the SB plan has been working very well. My husband has been so supportive also, but when (my son) says and does little things to make life easier on my diet it just pulls at my heartstrings. Kim G.

For me, there's a few things: The clothes I can wear now, the new things I can do like play baseball and basketball with the kids and run and chase them and things like that, hearing how proud my kids are of me, knowing I will live longer for them, and making my old boyfriend eat his heart out. The last one was my very first motivator, it still is one of them. I figure whatever the reason, if it works, it's good. :) Carol

I have to admit my biggest motivator is keeping cancer at bay. One of the

things I've seen over and over again is that CANCER loves sugar and fat

:(((( If you're overweight which I was, your chances of having cancer goes up.

I'm a cancer survivor and hope and pray with diet and healthy eating habits

cancer won't return. My doctor said since I'd had cancer of the uterus my

chances of other cancers - breast and colon - are higher :(( I'll do what

it takes.

So far I haven't suffered one day on the SBD. Even my dh loves it. We feel

full and in better shape than we have in years.

So ladies and gentlemen you're doing the right thing!!! Stay with it.

Hugs,

Diane S.

61 years young :)

170 lbs. 10 years ago

156 lbs. 3 years ago-on low fat diet down to 120 then up to 134 :((

SBD started 11/30/2004

134/132/131

goal: 120-125

Great for you! I wish more people knew that a healthy lifestyle affecting all these things as you do.

I hope to still be running marathons and teaching aerobics and actively doing photography when i'm in my 80's and beyond. So that's part of what I think of, too.

I know it. There is a guy who runs with the running club that I am in in Scotland, he is in his 70s now and still runs half marathons and marathons. No, he doesn't run super fast but he finishes them and does a LOT of them each summer, too. I am 32 in Feb but everyone says I look 21-22 and I know it's because I've exercised and eaten healthy my whole life! When I was 21 people used to think I was 15 and it annoyed me, but now that I'm getting older I laugh at my friends for it, just like I said I would back then!!! It's kind of annoying sometimes because I'm still single and I always meet these super young guys anymore, but I'm not exactly complaining, either :)

Well, look at Jack LaLanne. He's 90 and still amazing, still works out every day, all the stuff he has done. I still watch and exercise to his show on Classic Sports. His wife looks really good and still works out too. I know he changed her life and taught her to eat right and exercise and stop smoking. :) Carol
