He never had to go to bed or stop working. Also, so far he has not experienced the sinus infection, laryngitis, and chest congestion that I wound up with. Maybe there are advantages to being in permanent afib! in sinus in Seattle xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Did you or your brother have flu shots. I read that the flu shots gave partial protection that might lessen the affects of the bug. Guy

I think he just basically has a stronger constitution than I have. I was joking when I attributed his light symptoms to being in permanent afib. However, probably his ability to throw off infection may be related to his ability to live so successfully with permanent afib. He is just a strong person, physically and emotionally. Also, he does not have the long list of allergies and asthma that my other brother and I suffer. I think the allergies really compound the problem because my other brother and I have always suffered greatly from seemingly innocuous viruses, especially during childhood. For my other brother and me, it's never over when it's over. We almost always have a secondary infection. However, this other brother with whom I share my allergy tendencies, although not my afib tendencies, is also a doctor, and he tells me that the flu shots will never offer complete protection against every type of flu because they usually only include a small percentage of the currently most likely flu strains. This current flu is a case in point because this flu that is ravaging the West was unknown when the current flu vaccine was cultured months ago. However, I am sure that getting a flu shot is better than not getting a flu shot because at least you will have some protection. I don't do it because I am allergic to bacteria and viruses and had a very bad reaction to a flu shot once. in sinus in Seattle
Guest guest
The only cold remedy I feel safe taking is zinc lozenges. They do seem to help me, but it's better if you start as soon as you notice the first cold symptoms. Since I believe that cold remedies -- sudaphed and dristan nasal spray, in particular -- may have triggered my afib in the first place, I'm really reluctant to take anything. Sorry. Guest guest
As soon as I get a sore throat, I take Potent C Guard by Perque, 1/4 teaspoon in four oz. of water every fifteen minutes till the sore throat is gone. Usually for me it only takes two to four doses before the sore throat disappears. The only side effect I've felt is having to urinate more. I also get flu shots every year. A-FibFriendSteve Cold Remedies and AFIB??? I've caught something in the ER last weekend, I don't think it's the flu...I've had the shot. Is there anything over the counter an afibber can take that won't trigger afib? Any help would be appreciated. I feel like I caught the plague. I've been taking Tylenol for my fever and eating Hall's cough drops but I've got congestion in my chest, nose and throat. Any safe products out there?
