I expect most people use the term when referring to having lab tests run

(most of it for us afibbers is done on blood)

Blood work=blood test

Basically, it's any test that involves drawing blood. It certainly

includes checking your INR level, but can be anything else where you

contribute a tube of the red stuff for diagnostic purposes.
