Guest guest
I understand Edgar's concern, and also appreciate and understand Ellen's response. Here's a perspective: one of the main reasons people drop out of email forums is clutter - when the forums fill with off-topic materials, and one has to sift and sift to find gems of wisdom about the main topic. This was certainly Edgar's concern, and I'm sure we can all understand that concern. This forum officially has over 900 members now, and one can imagine favorite foods, favorite cities, favorite movies, etc., etc. I much appreciate Ellen's " personalizing " need for the forum, especially over the holiday period - part of the reason we are all here is to be of help and support to one another, and that certainly is helped by some anecdotal non-AF material. Could we, though, agree that as soon as this specific OT music topic is over, the moderators strictly limit the forum to issues related to AF, with the understanding that as individuals we all veer off target to insert some personal anecdotes from time to time, and that's inevitable. This is clearly Ellen's intention, and I'm trying to express both support for her and her admirable work, and the need to keep the forum to its AF point by holding onto knowledgeable members who do not want to hear about " favorites " of any kind. For the record, my three favorite music-makers as of this week are: Michiko Uchida, pianist; Graham, mezzo-soprano, and Colin , conductor of the London Symphony.
