Cotton underwear

I firmly believe that the whole concept of the white cotton underwear and white

cotton socks for men originally came about when the cotton industry was

threatened by the synthetic fabric industry. It wouldn't surprise me if the

switch to cotton was an effort to save the cotton industry.

There are many kinds of cotton and a blanket statement that cotton fabrics are

better just does not make sense. I have bought panties with a cotton liner

which disintegrated after a few wearings. Cotton flannel is made from cotton

linters which often contains residues of insecticide. as opposed from high

quality regular long fibre cotton.

True, cotton is more absorbent but by the same token it will hold in moisture

which would evaporate with synthetics. I do better with synthetics because they

dry out much faster and do not irritate me as much as cotton.

I found a website which states that cotton has not been proven to be better for

dermatitis. Go to:

http://www.ncchta.org/execsumm/summ437.htm

which states in part:

There was no RCT evidence to support any clear clinical benefit on the

use of avoidance of enzyme washing powders, cotton clothing as opposed

to soft-weave synthetics, biofeedback, twice-daily as opposed to

once-daily topical corticosteroids, topical antibiotic/steroid

combinations versus topical steroids alone and antiseptic bath

additives.
