Guest guest
Hi Penny: Every affiber is different ~~~~~ as for me I was in permanent afib. Fortunately, my EP put me on Dofetilide/Tikosyn - and that did the trick immediately - after the second dose. You might want to check our ' database. This is a list of a high percentage of our members and their Afib history, including the meds that they are presently taking and the ones they have taken in the past. http://www.dialsolutions.com/af/ Happy Holidays Penny - and welcome to our group! Guest guest
Dear Penny, Isoptin is a calcium channel blocker " rate control " drug. It attempts to control your heart rate (ventricular beats), but usually leaves your heart in A-Fib. To control you A-Fib you should talk to your doctor about taking antiarrhythmic drugs such as dofetilide (Tikosyn) or flecainide (Tambocor). But antiarrhythmic drugs often have bad side effects. To start them you often have to be in a hospital for three days for monitoring. Atacand is for high blood pressure. Ecotrin is a form of aspirin to thin your blood to help prevent blood clots and stroke which people with A-Fib are very prone to. Ten or more episodes of A-Fib a day is quite a lot. How badly do these episodes affect you? I had similar attacks and had to go on disability leave from work. A-FibFriendSteve amount of fib I usually have ten or more fibs per day which can last as long as twenty minutes. I am now taking Isoptin 240 mg; Atacand 8 mg; Ecotrin 81 mg; should this start controlling the fibrillations and make me have fewer? Is ten a or more a day a lot? Appreciate any feedback. Guest guest
Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply...Fortunately the episodes I have are not so bad to where I can't function. I will be seeing my doctor again the 22nd of this month and I'll have to see if he changes my medication again. We talked about anthiarrythmic drug but he wants to try this way first. He mentioned that it could take months, before we find the right medicine to help me.... Being new to this A-fib, I really appreciate any information.
