Guest guest
Do many of you in business make & sell products in addition to your soaps??? I am talking specifically things like bath salts, dusting powders, body oils, & lotions. If so - how are you getting around the " Cosmetics Regulations " if you are making from scratch or do some of these items manage to not fall under that catagory. I am currently waiting for info on this from the Consumer Product Safety Commisision. Buuuut...... The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act defines cosmetics as " articles other than soap which are applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance. " FDA has classified cosmetics into 13 categories: skin care (creams, lotions, powders, and sprays), fragrances, eye makeup, manicure products, makeup other than eye (e.g., lipstick, foundation and blush), hair coloring preparations, shampoos, permanent waves, and other hair products, deodorants, shaving products, baby products (e.g., shampoos, lotions and powders), bath oils and bubble baths mouthwashes, tanning products anyone?? I have made my own bath salts & dusting powders to match some of my soap line and but now I don't think I can carry them......any comments on how you guys are handling this??? thank you - I am always open to advise )
