Guest guest
Laurie, Thank goodness for the lack of nerve damage. May you continue on a speedy path to full recovery!! RUth Laurie Laurie got some good news at the neuro's today, but I will let her give you the details when she gets home. We had a nice visit and lunch and then she headed back home a little while later. Of course, she ran into a hugh traffic jam so her arrival home is delayed. Guest guest
Alice Thanks for asking. I'm not sure what was going on other than having PT three days in a row instead of every other day. I also was doing more driving. I feel fine today. I really think I was on the edge for some time. I cancelled therapy on Wednesday and slept for two days. The pain in my shoulder is a bit better and I actually only got up once during the night. I awoke many times, but only had to get up and ice my shoulder once. The therapist measured my range of motion and I have gained another few degrees, but still nothing very functional. I want to at least be able to turn the heat on and off without pulling off the road and be able to fold clothes. laurie Reply-To: Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 11:12:40 -0800 (PST) To: Subject: Laurie I just wanted to ask how you are doing with your " crash " that you reported earlier this week. I'm really sorry you are crashing. What's going on? Alice Medical advice, information, opinions, data and statements contained herein are not necessarily those of the list moderators. Guest guest
Well, Laurie. It sounds as if you are doing a little better but still need to see some more relief. When I am in the P/t mode, I often find that I can only do just so much and then I have to stop. I seem to be crashing right now too. No real reason that I'm aware of but needing to get a lot of sleep. I don't remember when the last time was that I slept 10-11 hour nighs, but I seem to need them now and a good 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon too. I sure need to feel better. You do too! Guest guest
Alice I hope you get to feeling better and can continue to get some good nights of rest. Sleep is so important. My neuro said that he was glad I was not working and trying to do PT as well. He didn't think I would benefit much from therapy if I was already tired and couldn't do much. laurie Reply-To: Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 14:51:56 -0800 (PST) To: Subject: Re: Laurie Well, Laurie. Guest guest
laurie, yeah, i definitely think the ms tests are definitely needed to go through the whole dxing process. ive had the spinal tap and mri's to check for it, but nothing further, glad this dr is at least looking at all possiblities. as for the probs with eating, i try and do the smaller and frequent meals too and when i go out, i try and eat about an hour before and have it be something like ensure. i believe you are right with the digestion taking alot of energy, especially with us when our bowels arent working properly alot. also, with getting off the meds, they are strong pain meds im on and also meds i take for migraines and then also imuran (which is supposively for my supposive connective tissue disease). these all i have to stop taking pretty suddenly cuz of my liver. then my neuro is talking about taking me off my seizure meds slowly so that he can get accurate tests done. my mom takes the glucosomine and says it has bothered her stomach, i might try it, but will run it by my drs first of course. thats good that you no longer need some of the meds due to other med changes, alot of times we are taking some meds to cover up the side effects of other meds unfortunately. im hoping to escape that soon. the one med i really want off is prednisone- its caused me so many problems but each time i try to get off it, i get worse off. anyways, my new neuro might know ways around that hopefully. anyways, thanks for your input and all. i appreciate it. take care, adrienne
Guest guest
Adrienne Just so you know if you don't already, it takes about a month (sometimes more) before you feel the effects of the glucosomine and it works so gradually that I had to really think back to the before going off NSIDs. I try to stay away from pain meds (I do take Aleve occasionally) becuase they mess up the dysmotility big time. I eat ginger if my meds upset my stomach. It works great for me. laurie From: moonchild62579@... Guest guest
I think Laurie is a little depressed, but she knew this was a possibility. I will most definitely give her your love!! The surgery took longer than they expected and she was in recovery for about 1.5 hours after the surgery, so she didn't even get back to her room until almost 5:00. I didn't want to leave without seeing her and until Kent and got there. I had about a 1.5 hour drive to get home in the snow too, so THAT is why I was so late checking in. I didn't have access to the internet until I got home, or I would have let you know sooner. Sorry if you were worried. Alice wrote: > , > > Thank you for the report. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, I hope you are recovering nicely. How is the pain level from the surgery? Are you able to use your arm any at all yet? I am so sorry to hear that you won't be able to put your arm over your head again, but remember , the doctors do not always take into account the will of the human spirit. Not to mention that they certainly are not always right!!!! About a lot of things heh? My prayers for a speedy and full recovery are with you, Smiling,
