Guest guest
Hi everyone. I've written before about having two doctors with two different opinions--one who thought I was in the beginning stages of MS and another who conclusively believes that Chiari is causing all my problems but hesitates to do anything with me until MS is ruled out. So I thought I was going to the tie-breaking doctor yesterday. What a disappointment. This woman doesn't think the few spots on my brain MRI are a concern, but she also said " ACM is a congenital condition that I've had all my life and that it isn't causing my problems either. " She said " ACM doesn't cause headaches. " I should have walked out of the office at that point I guess. After several tests, an EMG and an EEG, she said we must get your sleep patterns regulated and sent me home with a Rx. When I got home and did my research on this drug, Nortriptyline. I found out it is an anti-depressant and one that should NOT be taken by anyone with a family history of glaucoma. Everyone on my dad's side of the family has glaucoma. She only listened at about 1/4 (or fewer) of my symptoms, drew her own conclusions, prescribed something that I don't feel I need or should be on, and totally down-played my Chiari diagnosis. Now what do I do? I've been to 3 neurologists and 1 neurosurgeon.
