Guest guest
Lori, Could I ask you a huge favor? Could you check with Dr. Olive to see whether he knows of and would include a Dr. Spandorfer from Cornell( same place as Dr. Shattman) on the A list. This was the doctor I had done ivf with. Thanks so much, Myra

Guest guest
Myra, I will e-mail Dr. Olive and let you know what he says. If you want to contact him directly his e-mail address is lapskyboy@... . Did your IVF work with Dr. Spandorfer? I would personally feel comfortable with any of the doctors at CRMI, but they all have their individual specialties. For Asherman's, however I would only go with an experienced surgeon that has performed many Asherman's surgeries. The entire group has an excellent repuation, and I know that they often work as a team. If you read his profile, however, Dr. Spandorfer does not mention that uterine surgeries is his specialty. Here is his web profile: http://www.ivf.org/spandorfer.html - this makes me suspect. Dr. Schattman, at the same facility, mentions in his profile that he is an expert in surgeries. It says " Dr. Schattman is particularly experienced in advanced methods of correcting common causes of infertility including blocked fallopian tubes, adhesions or scar tissue, endometriosis and ovarian cysts " . Here is the link : http://www.ivf.org/schattman.html I'm sure Dr. Spandorfer is a skilled doctor, but he may not be the one to go to for a uterine surgery. This is just my personal opinion. Let me know if you have any other thoughts. -Lori

Guest guest
Thanks so much Lori. I thought you might get an earlier response from Dr. Olive because he knows you. The ivf at Cornell was successful (the 2nd time). It's hard to attribute that to one surgeon since they all work as an ivf team there. So you have a different doctor everyday depending on who is assigned that day. Dr. Spandorfer had been my physician who did that initial consult to then get into that ivf program. He's been pretty nice about helping me out, and was the one who suggested that I investigate whether this is Ashermans. I feel very comfortable with him as a doctor, but I want to make sure I go to somebody with Asherman experience. When I had asked him he said he's done this before and scheduled me for a lap/hys for Dec. 13th. Since that time I found this web site and the wealth of info people have shared. That's what made me think twice about what I was doing. I have an initial consult with Dr. Valle in Chicago on Wed, so I guess I can compare info. I had asked Valles's office how many Asherman surgeries he had done, and a nurse called me back to tell me he said to answer " many " . I don't know if many means 10 or 50,.... The ivf at Cornell resulted in a twin pregnancy which unfortunately ended at 12 wks. I needed a d/c, and after that didn't get my period for 6 months. A saline infusion showed a scarred uterus. So the scarring was done here not at Cornell (for anybody who was worried about Cornell) Thanks again Lori for your help with Dr. Olive. I really appreciate it.
