As regards " Creates " of tryptophan I can say that many foods already contain it.

No need to " create " it. Banana, non-vege stuff and many others have it.

Why should we not eat those foods? After all they have tryptophan. Sugar has to

be avoided. But fruits are ok to a limit. They have fructose, not sucrose. They

also have soluble fiber. Non-veg foods, particularly eggs and fish, are useful

and give us many amino acids.

I avoid sugar, wheat family grains, milk caseine. As I can't take milk

products, I have to take whey or non-vege foods.

Bonnie, have you tried the tryptophan-related melatonin for sleep? 3-6 mg should

be all it takes :)

For sleep melatonin did not help my wife. But she was typical picture of

psychomotor depression. I found cod liver oil (stimulates serotonin release) and

niacin with B6 and Sunlight in the day hours very helpful .

Ratan, candida eats fructose so the dietary limit on fruit should be a low one.

I believe it's a precursor to serotonin which is responsible for mood, appetite,

motivation, etc.

[ ] Tryptophan

what else is tryptophan good for other than getting them to sleep?

In Lierre 's book THE VEGETARIAN MYTH, she says she was very short

on tryptophan and it wasn't until she ate red meat that she was better.

Is it true that vegetables don't give you tryptophan? I thought peanuts

and other things did. Anyone know?

Haven't tried tryptophan but had good results with melatonin and/or valerian

tea. Might even try relaxation exercises before sleep. Meditation also has been

very helpful to quiet my mind.

I used to take 5-htp (that has tryptophan) and it worked well for many things

including sleep.

Here's a link to a good company I buy from:
