Question Regarding Isocort (et al.)

As I understand it, HC supplements what our adrenals are no longer capable of

making in the case of adrenal fatigue or failure - - and also allows the

adrenals to rest until weaning, improving their function after suppression. It

also plays an interconnected role in thyroid hormone metabolism. Such as, the

presence of adrenal hormones make it possible for thyroid hormones to be

utilized by the cells. This is what I have always thought. Is what I have

written thusfar correct?

In any event, I took HC for several days recently, but did seem to gain

weight. Perhaps there was a water retention issue there as well, but I went off

the HC and feel a bit better with the weight issue. I realize some of us have

to take it no matter the side effects, but I am still considering Isocort. I'm

wondering if there is any benefit for me in taking Isocort, considering my

situation?

I am on four grains of thyroid hormone, but according to saliva testing, I am

still hypo. This, to me, says it isn't being utilized by the body, possibly due

to low adrenal hormone? My cortisol is okay in the morning, but decreases by

afternoon until I am feeling pretty terrible. I shake, trip over things, become

fuzzy-thinking . . .

Apparently Isocort or other sheep/bovine adrenal supplements are meant to

strengthen the adrenals, so this in no way will help my body to address this

hypo issue? Perhaps I have been thinking I can get by taking something else

other than HC due to the side effects it seems to be causing me . . . But in my

case, perhaps this is not going to be enough to correct these two simultaneous

issues? Both thyroid AND adrenal?

I took a bovine adrenal supplement from the healthfood store, and I did feel

better. Is it possible that just with adrenal support, even if it isn't in the

form of HC, my thyroid function might improve?

Also, I have a parasitic infection, and I thought this also puts a strain on

the adrenals. As well, I suspect I might have candida . . . so who can say,

perhaps four grains of thyroid hormone and these two infections might be enough

to cause the adrenal fatigue (at least to a certain extent)? I am thinking

perhaps I could take Isocort, an antifungal and something for the parasites - -

and maybe this would be enough to improve the adrenal and thyroid situation?

Perhaps not? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Diane
