Has anyone tried Dr. Jan Kwasniewski's " Optimal Diet " ? It's completely contrary

to the Swank and BBD doctrines of minimizing saturated fats. Rather, it

advocates relying on fat instead of carbohydrate as the body's main energy

source. He recommends eating 1 gram of protein--saying animal sources are

best--for every kilogram of your ideal weight. And, for every gram of protein

consumed, you should eat between 2.5 and 3.5 grams of saturated fat and 0.5

grams of carbohydrate. If you weighed 150 pounds, your optimal diet would be 68

g protein, 170-239 g saturated fat, and 34 g carbohydrate, meaning 79-84% of

your calories would come from saturated fat. Seems ludicrous from all that we

know, right? But there are several testimonials reporting remarkable recoveries;

for example, see: http://homodiet.netfirms.com/testimonials/testimonial3.htm

(Hit the arrow buttons at the bottom to scroll through the testimonials.)

Dr. Kwasniewski is from Poland and it doesn't look as if he's published anything

in the peer-reviewed literature. He has, however, written a book called " Homo

Optimus " which I've not yet read.

He also has a page on his website that reports his experience with and

recommendations for multiple sclerosis; see:
