Guest guest
Thanks, Bolivar. This was my understanding of it also. I think the privacy laws came into effect in the late 90s.. Was trying to look them up on the web last night, but ran out of time trying to get the the exact cite. Guest guest
Also know that if you see Dr. A, then Dr. B, and Dr. B gets the reports from Dr. A, Dr. B does NOT have to release the reports from Dr. A to you. Only his own reports. You would have to see Dr. A for those reports that come from him. We just went through all of that here. Now if Dr. B, or his staff, are nice they will copy the entire file, and give it to you. But they do not have to. Hugs, --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with a-fib in May of this year. I just received my medical records including 3 times in cardiac unit (on holter monitor), trips to ER, EKG's, etc. I don't have a way to post EKG's but here are some of the comments on them. I need help trying to figure out what it means. 1. RVR (Rapid Ventricular Response) 2. AF with V response 3. Short -R-R wide aberrant QRS 4. Diffuse ST-T abnormal 5. Multiple ventricular premature complexes 6. Right Atrial enlargement 7. Irregular Atrial Activity 8. Enlarged cardiac sillouette with mild failure 9. S1 & S2 Irregular I have a nuclear treadmill on my last stay on Oct. 6-8 which showed no other heart problems. Still waiting on records to come in from that stay. If anyone can help me translate this into laymen's terms without the actual EKG's I would appreciate it. Debbi
Guest guest
Dear Debbi, If you like to look at an illustrated explanation of an EKG signal, go to http://www.a-fib.com/EKGsignal.htm. There's an illustration and explanation of A-Fib at http://www.a-fib.com/Overview.htm. Once you've got a handle on what an EKG is, your doctor or his/her nurse would probably be happy to explain your EKG to you. I'll try to explain what I can from the comments on your EKG. " AF with V response " and " Irregular Atrial Activity " probably indicates you have A-Fib and the A-Fib signals are speeding up your heart rate (Ventricular Response). " Right Atrial Enlargement " and " Enlarged cardiac silhouette " probably means parts of your heart are larger than they normally would be. This happens often in A-Fib when the atria (upper part of your heart) do not pump properly. The atria tend to enlarge, develop thinner walls and lose their ability to contract properly. You have to talk to your doctor about how serious a problem this is. Ask him/her in particular about what " mild failure " is. " Multiple ventricular premature complexes " probably stands for the extra beats that may be coming from your A-Fib or from other causes. Guest guest
Debbi: In my opinion, it's Dr. speak for " there is something there, but we don't know for sure what it is " You noticed he said " this maybe artifactual " , which means it may be nothing to do with your heart. Thor 24/7 AF PS: As many of you know I have a PVA schd. with the Cleveland Clinic - they called today & rescheduled for a month earlier - Feb 12th - Will keep all of you informed. Re: Medical Records Thor and Steve, The written comments on the stress test are as follows: No focal wall motion abnormailities can be seen. Some fixed decreased perfusion is present in the inferior wall. No reviersible defects can be seen, however. IMPReSSION: Fixed decreased activity in the inferior wall. This maybe artifactual or due to a small amount of fixed infarction. The cardiologist who ordered the test was with me during the test and during the findings. Any more comments would be appreciated.
