Hi there

I definitely have this. My husband actually hid the scale from me

(thankfully) and allows me to weigh myself on Wednesday's only. I was driving

him insane with being on it all the time. From what I understand, this is

very common. Although I am only 6 weeks out, I have the feelings that I will

be the one and only person that this does not work for. Have you thought

about making sure you have proteins first....you don't say how your intake is

for that...as well as water....good luck and I'm hoping that I don't feel

this way still at 3 months! Yikes!

Kim,

I have not had the surgery yet, but I lost a hundred pounds on my own before

and I was obsessed with the scale, I was afraid to eat anything over 300

calories, one day I ate one sunshine cookie and when my husband came home he

asked me why I was crying and I said because I know I have lost control and

am going to get fat again, when he asked why, I told him about the cookie

and he thought I was nuts!!!! Everyone loses at there own rate, don't worry

I have heard a lot of people say what you said then they were losing fine

the next month. HUGS

Unfortunately, I didn't START to feel this way until 3 months. I'm now at 4

months, and feel like I'm reating all the wrong things, even though I know

I'm not. I compare myself to others only in the sense that everyone seems SO

self disciplined and good with their food choices. My tastes have not

changed. It's still a struggle to avoid fat and sugar. I have to work at it

every day. Even so, I'm thrilled with the way I feel physically. Today, I

felt so good, and I realized it was because of the missing weight. Certainly

helps to boost the ego ;-)

Don't let everyone fool you....we all have gone through/will go through/are

going through what you have. I am SOOO far from self-disciplined. I actually

was eating too many carbs and a friend of mine (Thanks, ) pointed out

that I might be eating too much of them so I cut them way down/out and lost 5

pounds off the bat! I am definitely not one of those self-disciplined!!!!

Good luck!

YES! I can definitely relate to you. I never owned a scale, was determined

to ONLY weigh in at my check ups, but was given one, and promised myself to

only weigh 1x wk. Well, I now weigh myself daily, and I'm stuck for these

last few days too, finding myself weighing more at night (normal I guess),

but HATE IT! The other day, in the a.m. I had a 3 pound GAIN, and I was

beyond myself! Today, I haven't a clue, I refuse to get on the damn thing.

I feel like this is it, I've yet to hit any plateaus after a year, and

should be extremely thankful/lucky, but it makes me upset that I may be

hitting one now. This is so selfish of me I know, but I can't seem to take

that fact I may be hitting my first plateau. I'm determined to lose at

least a couple pounds, so I'm going to drink, drink, drink, and walk, walk,

walk!

Good luck!

Hi ,

Yeah, I take my proteins first. I'm getting at least 40 oz. of

water or crystal light a day. I exercise faithfully every day.

When it comes to the things I'm "not supposed" to eat I have a bite or

two and walk away. And sure, it's not easy because most foods don't

bother me (yeah, I can even eat rice & steak---two foods I repeatedly

hear people can't tolerate) Even though I'm following all the "guidelines"

I'm still stalled and it's frustrating because it's out of my control.

As for feeling bad about it...it didn't start until the plateau; as I said,

weighing used to be fun & motivating because every time I got on the

numbers were down.

Anyway...I'm rambling. I'll stop :)

Dawn,

It's funny...when you haven't plateaued its so easy to see in other

people that there's no reason to worry over it. Yes I know, we all

lose at our own rates, yadda yadda yadda. It's crazy how irrational

I can get sometimes. I've been on this list long enough to have watched

people's plateaus come and go; I know they're par for the course.

Yet now that it's happening to me I feel guilty, shameful and like I've

failed Dr. Thayer & everyone who has supported me. As Stuart

Smalley would say I'm plagued with "stinkin thinkin" The chances

that 42 pounds is all I'm going to lose are almost nil...yet I remain convinced

Oh Gawd...Jody had some TGIF's frozen lemonade mix and made a batch last

sugery was May 14, 2000 and I have lost about 50 pounds. I complained to

Dr.

Thayer and the nutritionist, but they both said I was doing everything right

and everyone is different, etc. Dr. Thayer said I probably have a very

efficient metabolism and that I will probably continue to lose at a slow

rate, but at least it seems to be steady. Also, remember, that this time

once the weight is gone, it is not going to come back. This weight loss is

for keeps!

Try to stay off the scale because that will just frustrate you even more. I

weigh in once a week and the loss has been between 1-1/2 and 2 lbs. per

week.

Good luck!

Lois congrats on your steady loss .. I think thats a great way to go. I'm a

slow loser too. I lost 60 lbs the first 3 months which was GREAT .. then I

lost another 40 lbs over the next EIGHT MONTHS!!! so everyone is different.

Hang in there. Keep at it. Drink your water. Take your vitamins, move your

body ... it'll come ..

Re: Re: Help...the new obsession.

Hi girls,

I did it. I made my BF take the scale to work with him. I now live in a

scale-free environment!
