Guest guest
Hi all,I was curious about the group's experience with ERCP's. I've had 10 myself, and I'm debating about whether to have anymore that are meant to be theraputic. ***** Deb, Ive had somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-13 ERCPs myself. At this point I probably will not have anymore, unless I were to have daily bouts of cholangitis again. Just too many hospitalizations due to the stent occluding and the resulting sepsis. I found the stent to be quite painful as well. I also developed thrombophlebitis in my right arm due to one of my meds that was " IV pushed " during an ERCP. That vein was painful and distended for a long time, but finally healed, although Iam sure it is blown. No more therapeutic ERCPs for me(only in emergencies)...PTC yes...if necessary. Guest guest
Deb, I just saw my doctor this week. He told me that I am not having my annual ERCP this year, but an MRCP instead. I also end up with at least a few days in the hospital with pancreatitis and pain problems. It seems to take a couple of months to recover from each ERCP. I'm a little concerned about not having the brushing. But my doctor thinks the less invasive MRCP is the way to go this year. I'm relieved I won't have the ERCP this year (barring any new problems). I am also on a two year basis for colonoscopies. I do have monthly blood tests and see my dr every two months. I can always call when I have problems in-between. Cheryl in Idaho ERCP Question Hi all,I was curious about the group's experience with ERCP's. Thanks for any help.Deb in VAAIH 1997, PSC 1998, UC 1999, Listed Ltx 2001, MELD
