Guest guest
that's hysterical (the ex-boss calling you). reminds me of when i left a job (a job that was supposed to be part time, but it turned out they wanted to pay part time pay for full time hours). for 6 years, i was this tiny church's sole employee (the pastor & his associate pastors were all salaried, meaning only the pastor showed up, but then only for 8 hours per week for the 1st couple of years before he suddenly did all his church work from home... leaving me holding down the fort by myself. yes, you heard me. he even authorized me to sign his name on letters. he said i did a better job of signing his name than he did!). so i was pastor's secretary, church secretary, i purchased all supplies from toilet paper to coffee, from communion grape juice to cleaning supplies. i did everything (including things other people should have done, but didn't). i took care of accounts receivable, the year-end records (you can imagine everyone wanting an accounting of their tithes), kept records of board meetings, made all the sunday bulletins... month after month, with each agenda for a board meeting that i prepared, my list of "unfinished business" grew to such proportions that eventually, i was instructed to cease listing their unfinished business (!). i was supposed to have annual reviews, where the pastor would write a letter & recommend a merit increase in pay (which was always the case, & which the board of elders agreed i deserved, but decided they could never afford)... and (get this!) eventually, the pastor had me write my OWN review (!). i could list a gazillion more duties in my job description, but i will spare you, you get the idea. anyway, after i leave this job (and jim & i managed to find another church), suddenly they can't get anyone to take over the job. they end up having to hire 3 people to take care of all the responsibilities i oversaw. no, cindy... when these people hired you, it was the smartest thing they ever did. and when they fired you, not only was it the dumbest thing they ever did, they had no idea they were kinda shooting themselves in the foot. well, that's my story, and i am sticking to it! ooooooooooooh, a salesperson who makes the customer thrilled to part with their hard-earned dough... and not even be aware of how much they are spending? you are any employer's DREAM of an employee! i'm glad sears is picking up the ball & giving you more hours. way to go, sears! (and way to go, cindy!) (((hugs))) maureen
