Nice message, Ruth but she forgot to mention that she

went with me to Arizona for the Cochlear Implant

study. At that time, we talked about Branden (one of

my grandchildren) wanting a skates for Christmas.

Now, for those of you who don't know Branden, he's

multi limb disabled and doesn't have much use of his

legs - in fact - he really doesn't have much in the

way of legs or feet. He also is missing most of his

left arm with no left hand and has missing bones in

his right arm with only 3 fingers. and I

wondered how we were going to acknowledge this five

year old's wish. There have been a lot of things like

this that he has wanted and didn't get simply because

there was no way to adapt them for him.

Well...I told Ruth and about this and they came

up with the idea of a specially designed skateboard

with his favorite character - Buzz Lightyear on it.

We left Phoenix on Friday, 12/13. He has special

adaptations so that he can break it with his short arm

and push it along with a specially made pusher for his

right hand. On 12/24 the UPS man delivered this

beautiful skateboard to my door and on Christmas Day,

Branden just sat in awe looking at it. When we get

the pictures of him on his new board...with his name

embroidered on the seat ... we'll be sure to share it.

It's a beauty and has special adaptations so that he

can break it with his short arm and push it along with

a specially made pusher for his right hand.
