Guest guest
I do the following because I HAVE to: I follow a low fat, low carb, low sodium diet as I am a type 2 diabetic. I take one Glucosamine HCL w/ MSM daily or drink 1 can of Joint Juice (liquid glucosamine) with my dinner. I also take a multivitamin daily and a calcium pill. I am on the following medications: Amitryptiline to help me sleep (for the fibro) Propanolol for my daily migraines mostly caused by the ever-present pain in my neck and shoulders. Lovastatin to bring down my bad cholesterol and boost up my good. A diuretic for the edema in my legs (only 1/2 pill as my blood pressure is low). Metformin for my diabetes ( I thank God daily that I do not have to do insulin!) Prilosec OTC for my Barret's Esophagus I walk for 1-2 hours 3 or 4 days a week even though I am never without pain. I do the following because I WANT to: I spend as much time with my grandkids as I can. They are my life. I research my genealogy online. I play computer games, watch movies and TV, and read. I do crafts when I can - crocheting, cross-stitch, jewelry, painting ceramic or wooden objects d' art, etc. I keep up with all my online friends and yahoo groups daily. I am behind in my blog writing however. I got behind when my computer crashed and had to wait for my daughter to get me a new laptop. LOL I do not have to face this struggle alone as I live with my son , dau-in-law and 4 grandkids! I have my own room even if it is in the garage! LOL My only daughter, (son-in-law and grandson) in Idaho take me on vacation with them every year. Last year we spent 2 weeks in southern CA with a 2 day stop over in Las Vegas. The year before they took me to Northern CA and Lake Tahoe. This fall they are taking me to Cabo in Mexico! Next year we are going to Yellowstone and in 2010 they are taking me to the Winter Olympics in Canada for a whole week! (They have a resort membership!) My mother always told me that when you get a gift you don't really like, or want, you MUST smile and say " Thank you! " LIFE IS A GIFT. I believe in miracles and I am waiting for mine! If I spend time complaining I might miss my miracle. Today, I wish you a day of ordinary miracles. My Lord is a great comfort. He provides me with positive thoughts and reminds me daily of all I have to be thankful for. I am not blind, deaf, or dying. I can laugh and enjoy life. He has provided me with a 2-hour a day job (3-4 days a week) which provides me with spending money so that I am not completely dependent on my children. Later... A heart at peace gives life to the body. Live well... Laugh often.. Love simply... Love generously... Care deeply.. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. " Our real blessings often appear to us in the shape of pains, losses and disappointments, but let us have patience and we soon shall see them in their proper figures. " – ph Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. " Hebrews 13:2 This hangs on the wall in my room where I can see it any time I want: ON THIS DAY Mend a quarrel. Search out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word or deed. Keep a promise. Find the time. Forget a drudge. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Apologize if you were wrong. Try to understand. Flout envy. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Appreciate. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Deserve confidence. Take up arms against malice. Decry complacency. Express your gratitude. Worship your God. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love. Speak it again. Speak it still once again. -- What do you do to make you feel better? I would like to know what everyone does to make themselves feel better? .. Guest guest
Thank you, . I thank God daily for his blessings! But sometimes I have to write it out and send to others so that I can remember! Guest guest
, my daughter is a massage therapist also! she gave me lavender and lemon to mix together and use as oils and put in a diffuser to help me relax when I have a lot of pain. It has helped me tremendously. I cannot have a massage because it causes a great deal of pain the following few days after. I also am on the Amitriptyline to help sleep at night. I take the zaniflex for the muscle spasms. I have tried the teas, Jenna has me go on the website www.olbas.com for the natural herbal teas and other stuff, she is the massage therapist. I always ask my rheumatologist, neurologist and pharmacist first before I order anything. It is so hard to take pain meds and feel like you are in control so I prefer natural herbal things if I can have them or try to do something else. IF not then pain meds are my savior. I will not suffer needlessly. Pain is not going to be my downfall. I want to be able to have a smile on my face and feel somewhat " normal " although this fibro has taken away what I thought was " normal " a long time ago if that makes any sense. in NH > > > Jane, > > Thank you so much for responding to my question. Guest guest
I think it's wonderful that you have found things that improve your fibro symptoms, but your outlook as well! Going to pool therapy really helps me with both of those too! My 360... http://360.yahoo.com/profile-sAp.rioibKNu61AjYKplfRn8wFOnB68-?cq=1 What do you do to make you feel better? I would like to know what everyone does to make themselves feel better? Please don't say pain killers as they only mask the condition they aren't really improving the condition. For me I follow a strict diet, mainly a diabetic diet but I only use stevia as a sweetener. I also stay away from nightshades. I also take a multi-vitamin made for fibro sufferers. I walk, even when I think I can't. If I don't move, then I won't be able to move. I work which gets me out of bed and I don't have time to think about pain or how bad I may be feeling. I work in the health field, so I can usually find others who are worse off than me. At least, I know my condition isn't going to kill me. I might feel like it will, but it won't. Being around other people helps the spirit also. I have other health problems, so I follow my prescribed regimen for them also. I pray often daily and above all I keep a positive attitude. in PA
Guest guest
Bet, I do. I also take effexor xr every day in the morning for depression/pain management. the amitriptyline is to help me sleep. That is the only reason they are adding this on now. It was just added on in March. I also just went back in for biopsies of the small intestine this past Thursday. I had an endoscopy two months ago, and my rheumatologist wanted me to go back and have a second one tto be tested for whipples disease! It is rare and can mimick fibro! So now I am waiting for those results which I will not have until the week of May 10th. > > > > > > Jane, > > > > Thank you so much for responding to my question. Guest guest
, Thanks for such a great response to my question. I will have to try the lavender and lemon mix for relaxation. I am the same way after a massage. Therapist are used to really getting into those muscles and they need a very light touch when working with fibro patients. I have never heard of zaniflex, I am assuming that it is a prescription. I need something for muscle spasms in my chest. About a month ago I thought I was having a heart attack. I even had pain going down my left arm. Turns out it was muscle spasms. They make you feel so low when they say it is only your fibro. How will I ever know when I truly have a heart attack? I guess I will have to be unconscious to get any help. LOL. I will check out this website at www.olbas.com <http://www.olbas.com> for the natural herbal teas and other stuff. I am always educating myself. in PA
Guest guest
have you herd of the book Foods that fight pain by Barnard, Neal? I just now herd of it but am going to order it asap. I thought that if you haven't herd of it you should no about it. I too believe in fighting it with natural things such as diet. HUGS Re: What do you do to make you feel better? Hi , the zaniflex is for muscle spasms, mine are so bad they couldn't even do an mri I was spasms (sp?) so bad they were holding me down while doing it. What is so sad are these meds are so costly even with insurance and cause you to be depressed because then even the low to medium income household can no longer get by with insurance! we spend 300-500 for my meds now I am starting not to get them filled because we cannot afford them. they were helping but put us in a mess. we are low income and it is awful. I do not eat sugar because that makes it worse. I want to know what to do to make me feel better naturally so I eat more natural foods, do not eat white breads eat more consciounsly.. > > , > > Thanks for such a great response to my question. Guest guest
, Thank you for a great post. I do read the Bible daily. For two years straight I read the Bible in a year. Now I am focusing on doing daily Bible studies for each book of the Bible. Thanks again for such great encouragement. in PA Knitting Blog http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-JfILGYk6erS4pHDPy6cpajm1W_GA <http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-JfILGYk6erS4pHDPy6cpajm1W_GA> Personal Blog http://karekountry.blogspot.com/ <http://karekountry.blogspot.com/> Recipes and Crafts for the Holidays http://karekountrycelebrates.blogspot.com/ <http://karekountrycelebrates.blogspot.com/> Blog for Fibromyalgia Information http://fibrohaus.blogspot.com/ <http://fibrohaus.blogspot.com/>
Guest guest
Kelli, Thanks for the info. I don't seem to have the groggy problem the next day with Amitriptyline. I wake up feeling very refreshed mentally. It has been one of the better drugs for me. I will keep the lemon water in mind next time I get a massage. I always drank alot of water afterward, but maybe not enough. I've never tried Curel, but I have seen it in the stores. Will have to try it. in PA
Guest guest
Sounds like a great book. I will have to check with my Library. I've been told that " Eating in the Raw " is good too. My library just got this in through the inner-library system. I am picking it up tomorrow. in PA
