Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this . I just started on Metaformin and am hungry a lot more than I used to be. I also am doing South Beach diet and havent lost any wt am wondering if drugs have anything to do with it. Drugs dont seem to be helping with my morning readings either. sharon My theory on weight and drugs My theory on weight gain and diabetes drugs. After almost 3 years of being diagnosed with diabetes and steadily gaining weight, I am starting to figure this out. I was not overweight when I was diagnosed. Since taking the diabetes drugs, all I do is gain weight or fight gaining weight. I take metformin and Prandin. I have tried almost all of the other diabetes drugs and decided these 2 made me the least hungry. I have figured out that when I take the drugs, it lowers my BS level, when my BS is lower, it makes me feel like I need to eat. They give you drugs that cause you to gain weight but then tell you you need to lose weight. ugh It's a vicious cycle. I have found that if I don't eat in the morning and don't take any drugs, I am not hungry. Once I eat and start taking the drugs, the eating/hunger cycle starts. I have been on Avandia since November 2002- and this is the only diabetic medication I have ever taken. I am often incredibly hungry, but had assumed that this was due to the fact that I had been very overweight (over 300 pounds), and had drastically cut my calorie consumption, and my body was adjusting. But my weight has been in the " high normal " range for months now, and my body has had plenty of time to adjust to the reduced calories, and I am hungrier than ever, and not even losing much anymore, basically maintaining. So I wonder to, if the Avandia is a partial cause, gail
