Guest guest
Hi Torsten! Your reply about the clinic visits has left me wondering why Fiona has an ultrasound of the liver each year? I hope that you, Fiona and Silke are all doing well. I'm assuming you received the sand I sent some time ago. I hope it reached you before Silke's birthday. If anyone's written to me in the past few months, my computer deleted it before I read it, as I haven't had much of a chance to sign on lately. All in all, we're doing okay. is doing great (as usual) and 's doing pretty well. We had clinic on Wednesday and doc thinks we'll be heading in for his first 'tune-up' in October. While I wasn't thrilled with the thought of it, I'm now dreading it after reading Jen's notes on Mal's unsuccessful attempts to hook up an iv. When had his picc line last year, it took two separate tries of over 2 1/2 hours each to get the line in. They decided to completely sedate him for the second try (thank goodness). Of course, then they had to put in the crook of the elbow, which meant that they also had to configure a special splint so he couldn't bend his arm for a month. His oh-so-sensitive skin reacted to everything that touched it and layers peeled away under the splint. Then the sutures came out - well, actually they didn't come, his skin disolved away and there was nothing left for the sutures to hold to. So, of course, we had to have the picc re-sutured. He was such a trooper through it all. Nonetheless, I am NOT looking forward to any of it again! 's ears must have been ringing with my typing about him, because he just woke up.... I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to be able to get on the computer more often and become more involved again...
