I also exercised on phase one. There were days when I was a bit tired, didn't feel like it and made myself anyway. Figured even if I didn't put my all into it, anything was better than nothing.

I was looking on a site and it had what the people on the Biggest Loser eat. They are eating phase one foods right down to the ricotta dessert at night and they are working out like crazy people. So I would say it's all individual. Carol

Exercise on Ph1

Hi Amie,

I didn't cut out exercising during Phase I; I didn't see anything that said not to. The article that was posted recently came well after my Phase 1 experience. Personally, I see nothing wrong with exercising during Phase 1 and would do it again. I felt so unlike my old self with food limitations that I had never out on myself and the stress of cooking and creating healthy meals which I had never done before, that I don't think cutting out exercise would have been beneficial for me. I kept to the same routine that I do now (weight training, cardio, stretching & yoga).

It depends on how much a person is eating, especially carbs, and the intensity and duration of their exercise sessions as well. If I were in season, running 60+ miles per week, swimming a few thousand meters a week, teaching aerobics, cycling, and weight training - there is no way I would do SBD any phase, never mind phase 1.

I haven't completely read the book, but apparently the lessening of exercise was mentoned in there, but I didn't post that so I'm not sure. My training schedule in the winter is not as hectic, and also I am eating to support my training though staying with Phase 1 foods. I haven't lost any weight after four days of phase 1, maybe 1-2 pounds but that is probably because I weighed on a different scale to begin with, or didn't drink enough water yesterday.

Carol, its funny you mention the Biggest Loser. I love that show, but they way they work out seems so unrealistic to me, although all that have left the show have really taken the weight off. I think to myself, If I have to exercise like that everyday, I will be fat forever.......sad, I know, but those are really intense workouts and I know I do not have the time for sure......Kim

well i just want to get back to that point after all the health issues I have had! but getting my weight back down is a big issue towards that goal, along with getting my health stabilized. I want to try for the Olympic quals in triathlon the next go round - but again the weight and health MUST be in line for that to happen. 122lbs 15.5% bodyfat is the goal... ~15 pounds from this point.

It's all relative thought - 04 US Olympic Team's Barb Linquist's training volume puts mine to shame!

You know I am ok with taking the weight off slowly though as long as it comes off. If I could lose 2 lbs per week I would be turning cartwheels! I would be at goal by mid-Feb!
