kristina,

Ive had alot of problems with weight also. I used to have problems keeping it

up (im 5'5 and would be around 110 give or take 5 lbs up until 3 yrs ago)

then i went up on prednisone and other meds and i went up to 185. Prednisone

made my face puffy and all too and dr said i had cushings from it, might be

something they need to look into for you and your hormones maybe since you

had the hysto. Also, i think singular has steroids in it so it might be

causing that. I use flovent which is a steroid inhaler and it seems to puff

me up too. Now though ive lost alot of weight and am down to the mid 130's. I

still have bloating in my stomach and some steriod fat in my upper body. But

lost the weight very fast due to dysmotility. I think that weight fluctuates

real fast unfortunately with mito and with also endocrine probs which are

common with mito. Its probably a combo of the hysto happening and the steroid

inhaler. But id definitely suggest getting it all checked out. Keep us posted

on what the dr says.

take care,

adrienne

Hi all,

I know weight issues have been discussed a lot in the past, but

for awhile it seemed to be on people losing weight. I have been gaining

weight lately with no real good explanation and it is starting to

concern me. I am about five foot, and have always been " average weight " ,

from 105 to 118. For awhile, I dipped into the low 90's, due to

pneumonia, but that was 6 years ago. My doctor like me at the 118, as I

seemed to stay " healthier " at that weight. Well, I have been gaining a

lot lately. I started in July, after my hysterectomy. At least that is

when I noticed the big change. I was told it was normal to gain weight

after a hysterectomy, but it has been awhile since that and I am still

gaining. My eating habits have really not changed, to explain this. My

mom's side of the family is bigger, but there were a few of us that

stayed at a " normal " weight. I am having to go up sizes in clothes and

don't like it. My face has become rounder lately and almost seems

swollen at times. I am not on any new meds, such as prednisone that

usually makes me gain. My doctor did put me on Singular a couple weeks

ago, but I don't know if that would be a side effect. Any ideas? Has

this happened to anyone else?

Thanks and smiles,

a

Do you still have your overies left? If not, are you on hormone replacement therapy? I know it is controversial and risk factors have to be considered, but this could be part of the problem.

Adrienne,

I didn't realize singular had steroids in it, so thanks for the heads up. I usually try to stay away from things with steroids, as I get strange reactions at times. My doctor knows this, but I have been dealing with a different pulmonlogist lately who has just been reading my charts and hasn't even seen me. I will check it out with him. Thanks!

Also, i think singular has steroids in it so it might be causing that. I use flovent which is a steroid inhaler and it seems to puff me up too. Now though
