I want to lose this extra weight. My self esteem is starting to decline. I find myself not going or doing things because I am ashamed of how I look. My clothes now range from 8 to 16 and I can see 18 if I don't do something. Picked up Dr. Atkins' New Diet Book today and have started to read. Definitely looking to find a little humor in this challenge also!! Kay

Guest guest
Hi, My name is Jean. I am 47 and I started on a low calorie diet. I weighed 201. I lost 20 pounds and found the Suzanne Somers diet. I then lost 4 lb. in 2 weeks. Gained 2 lost 2 then lost 3. I maintained at 173 for 3 weeks. I discovered a couple of things. One ,the cheesecake I heard mentioned.....stalled my weight. Asparatame and maltodextrin have carbos. Maltodextrin has .945 per gram . Cream also has hidden carbos....for 1tbs to 2 tbs less than 1 but in cheesecake if you use much it can add up. Between the cream cheese 1 per oz. and the hidden ones you can get more carbos than you realize. Even tho the label says 0 it is only because the govt. doesnt' require it labeled if less than 1 . I discovered that when I ate the cheesecake I gained. It is either the carbos or the aspartame. I also realized that I couldn't eat fruit . I found I was reducing carbos. Then I heard a little about atkins. I accidentally was doing atkins. Once I reduced the carbos I lost 3 lbs. in 4 days. I tried cheesecake for 2 days and gained 2 lbs. it took me 2 days to get it back off when I lowered the carbs again.......201/169/130...to date. I will send another post about the aspartame. Or have you all already heard info about it?.......Jean
Guest guest
Welcome Cyndi! I'm in my 3rd week and my depression and anxiety has all but disappeared. I actually feel a difference in my anxiety level and I didn't believe it would happen but it did. I feel SO much calmer and able to handle a crisis. My work is really giving me a hard time right now, working late/emergency requests/etc. but I haven't gotten upset once since the first week of this. it's really amazing. I feel VERY good on this and I think after your first 3 or 4 days you'll notice it too. I wouldn't worry about exercise yet. Just get settled in this new WOE (way of eating) and you can add exercise when you're able. 262/254/150 248 by Oct 31 Cyndi Branam wrote: > Hi all. My name is Cyndi and Im new to the list.
