Guest guest
What dr. are you using? I've always heard 23/7 for three months. That is what Dr. Ponseti is having us do. I'd ask the dr. about it again. It's my understanding that it should not hinder development at all. Thanks, Joanne

When Rose started to wear the DBB, she had just turned 7 months. She had to wear the DBB 23/7 for 3 months. In that time, she learned quite efficiently to pull up and stand alone in the brace, learned how to crawl and climbed the stairs. You will be amazed what Noam will be able to do! Guest guest
Sorry to reply so late. Our doctor also said our daughter has to wear the DBB 23/7 until she pulls to a stand. I thought this was part of the ponseti treatment method which they said they practice. I learned via this list that ponseti recommends DBB full time for only 3 months. I asked my doctor about this discrepancy and she said that walking is a self-correcting thing, so their feeling is they would like to be conservative and do as much correcting as possible until the child starts to walk. However, at our previous visit, she had instructed us to start giving our daughter more breaks during the day to stimulate her feet so the muscles would not atrophy. Now that I know that the doctor is being overly cautious and she said my daughter is doing so well, I'm not as diligent about having the DBB on during the day time. I do make sure she has them on for naps and at night (putting them on is part of our routine), but she often has them off for 3 or more hours a day. The doctor said to keep doing what we're doing. Also, I asked about using a ny Jump up and the cast tech said it is great for her legs and feet. She really loves it. Hope this helps.
