Would someone explain to me how it works when you go to one of the Mayo Clinics.

Do they review your paperwork / test results from your local Doctors or do they

run their own tests (Or both sometimes?). Do you end up going for a few days?

Also, is there any follow-up with them, or consultation with your local doctors?

Thanks

Anyone know of some good Liver Specialists in the Minneapolis area.

I would really like to get a second option - don't know if I can

trust the HMO.

I agree with Dave, if you can go to the Mayo Clinic that would be

your best option. I went there a couple of times after my PSC was

diagnosed. I saw Dr. Lindor and he was great. I stopped going

there only because of the distance from home, I live in Michigan.

, since we have BC/BS insurance we are allowed to see any

specialist, anywhere. Our Dr. here in Michigan recommended the Mayo in

MN. because of their specialist. We went there to see a Dr. Tallwakar.

who then had him seen for his ERCP . Our son went to mayo twice. The

first time for the initial consult and then back for his ERCP. Dr.

Talwalkar then consulted with our Dr. here in MI who will monitor his

medications and blood work.

Hope this helps.

PS. Do make sure you ask them how many days to plan on staying. That's

why we had to go back the second time for his ERCP. We didn't know that

we should plan on several days. We did bring his xrays, US and lab

reports with us and then they did more testing there.
