Tamil Nadu - Non availability of HIV testing kits

Dear Forum,

I visited ICTC Kumbakonam ( Tamilnadu)Government hospital on March

7th with two referrals from Lotus for HIV test. Hospital Counsellor

told the test kits are not available and wont be available till the

end of this month (March). Since we were asked to come in the first

week of April.

I also noticed few pregnant women who came to collect their results

were asked to come and collect & nbsp;their results in the first week

of April. I was given to understand that in the past few days blood

samples were collected and since there was a delay in arrival of Kits

the results were not provided and kept in pending.

I have three questions

How long & nbsp; a blood sample could be kept in pending for test.

Would any variation occur in results when testing it after a month?

Why there is a lack in Kits? is it the situations in other districts

of Tamil nadu?

Till April first week where do we refer the clients who get

counselled in our community voluntary counselling centre (CVCC)?
