Actually, it sounds like you're pretty much a moderate carber, right? I ate according to the ADA diet for 3 years -- probably more carbs than you're eating now, and I was able to maintain good control, but all of a sudden things went out of whack, and a bowl of cereal -- which I had been eating every morning, with no problems -- sent my blood sugar up to 350! I was also taking Glucophage, and it quit working. Now, the only thing that works is low carb. Still, I'd say I eat more fruit and vegetables now than I did before I was diagnosed diabetic, and I certainly exercise more :-) Sandy ------------------- Don't get the idea that you are alone in eating a balanced diet, Jim. While I can eat this way and maintain good BG control, I will continue to. If things change in the future, I'll look into alternatives.
