Celia,

Thats an excellent question! I feel much worse after taking a hot bath too. It makes me so very weak and fatigued. Most people always say how nice and relaxing a hot bath is, but I beg to differ. Maybe someone knows the answer to this question.

Celia, before I was diagnosed with MELAS, hot showers, baths would make me terribly weak. Now I know why. Yes, heat requires much more energy for cellular activity. Just as it is important not to get overheated by the outside temp, taking a hot shower or being in a hot tub will deplete energy.

Keeping the body cool and warm takes a tremendous amount of energy. I avoid hot tubs and saunas and shower in warm (not hot) water. If I used hot water in the morning, I would never make it to work.

Subject: Another question- hot baths

Dear Groupies, I keep thinking of other things to ask. I know a hot

bath makes me feel really weak and tired etc. but is it bad for mito?

Ie :does it accelerate energy needs, thereby causing more freee

radical formation??? Should one avoid hot baths, hot tubs etc? Thanks,

Celia

I have problems with moist heat too, i think that is one of the many reasons drs thought i could of had MS. Dr that diagnosed me with dysautonomia said it could be causing the problem with feeling weak and shaky in hot showers, baths and hot tubs. now i just go for luke warm water. i love how the hot water feels on my muscles but it absolutely makes me feel way too strange to stay in it longer than a min or 2, so its not worth it. guess it could be a part of mito like some of yall explained.

take care,

adrienne
