: re nyc doctors

Hi ,

I live in Manhattan and saw several doctors for 2nd opinions, as well

as e-mailed with Olive. The specialist that cured me (I am now

scar-free) is Dr. Glenn Schattman who is the Center for Reproductive

Medicine and Infertility at NY Hospital/Cornell Medical Center. His

number is . He is a surgeon in their group, and

specializes in all uterine surgeries. He was my specialist from the

start, after I was diagnosed with moderate scarring following a

cornual ectopic pregnancy last summer. I stayed with him after

researaching many other doctors.

My 2nd opinion was with Dr. Alan Copperman, who is a specialist at

Mt. Sinai. He trained directly under Olive. I liked him alot,

and probably would have seen him if I wasn't already seeing Dr.

Schattman. I asked him about the A-list doctors. He said that Dr.

Neuwurth had a good reputation in his day, but was now somewhat of

a " dinasour " and at this point did not do as many surgeries himself.

He did not mention Dr. Cohen. I then opted not to see Dr. Neuwurth,

but did go for another opinion with Dr. Cohen for peace of mind, to

make sure I explored all of my options.

I know that others in this group have had great experiences with Dr.

Cohen, and I am sure he is excellent. Personally I did not hit it off

with him, and felt that Dr. Schattman had much more experience with

uterine surgeries, since that is his specialty. Dr. Cohen was very

impersonal with me and my husband, and did not make a very good

impression.

I e-mailed Dr. Olive about my choices, and here is what he wrote ( I

cut and pasted this from his email):

" Dear Lori:

You have picked two excellent physicians! Dr. Shattman is a good

friend, and DR. Copperman trained under me. Their opinions are solid.

It frequently takes several surgeries to cure Asherman's, and the

balloon/estrogen approach is the best validated. From what I know of

your case, it seems like the best approach. Good luck.

Well, thank goodness it worked for me and I am now finally trying to
