Guest guest
Allergies to aspirin can be deadly, not just make your eyes look funny... I myself never use aspirin, because it has been known to trigger asthma attacks, and my son is 9, and it is not recommended for children, because of the risk of Reyes Syndrome. Aspirin is a wonderful medicine though, particularly for those with heart conditions and a trend towards blood clots. Aspirin is a " blood thinner " , inhibiting clotting. If one is not allergic, and has no other conditions where aspirin would be contraindicated, it is a great medicine! Aspirin does have a tiny amount of starch in it, but by no stretch of the imagination could be considered a significant source of carbohydrates. Starch is simply used as a highly soluble inert base for the medicine. The actual ingredient that is the active element of aspirin, (acetylsalicylic acid) is highly acidic, and if not " buffered " by the starch, would probably kill you. It is actually a synthesized form of salicin, which is found in willow bark, and has been used for millennia in teas for pain relief. a.k.a. ~ Natty's mommy lanat@... http://www.javanet.com/~lanat/

Guest guest
Does anyone take aspirin on a daily basis. Pre PSC diagnosis I was taking a .81 coated aspirin daily and I still do. I have been told by my GI not to take aspirin for pain and dont but just now realized that i have been taking it all along. Dick is my personal pharmacist and has all my pills ready for me and I just take a handful and swallow and to-day a light bulb went off and I suddenly realized that all the time I have been taking aspirin. Does this small dosage matter?? I see my GI in October and will certainly ask him. When I first started going to him I told him what medications I was taking including the aspirin and he didn't comment at that time.
