Guest guest
Interestingly enough - when I was in PT school (in the 70s), one way they " diagnosed " MS was by putting people in a hot tub and seeing if it made them worse. Probably some of them had mito that were diagnosed with MS. In those days they had EMGs, (which haven't changed much since then) but they didn't have all of the MRI, CT scan PET scans and other sophisticated stuff that allows them to " see " much more. So here's to improvement in Medical Technology! Anne PS - I lost my vision in one eye when I was 16 for about 6 weeks. (in the 60's) Never happened again. They told me at the time I probably had MS (scared my parents and me to death). Didn't start having other " mito " symptoms though until about 1994. The one exception is the dysautonomia - I've had that for at least 20 years, because I really had problems with it when I was pregnant with my first son. They were clueless - put me in the hospital and gave me fluids - they had no earthly idea what would cause that. I never connected it to my weakness in my right hand progressing to all of my muscles until mito was suggested. Even being a PT, I had never heard of it. Since I learned more (mainly from this site and UMDF articles etc.) I've picked up on alot of other stuff that I've had for awhile that I never connected with the weakness - examples, Preventricular contractions (heart), tachycardia, eye pain, headaches - you name it! I learn more every day! Anne _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. Guest guest
Anne, Please remember that we don't know if all this things are " caused " by the mito or if they are just really common with people that do have mito. Kind of a which came first, the chicken or the egg.
