SBD is expensive, I've found, at least, more expensive than eating anything

and eating it cheap. The problem is, I think, that most of the " cheap "

foods are the very processed ones. I can buy packs of pasta meals for 88

cents or I can buy breasts of chicken for $3.29/lb. and lettuce at

$1/head. Gee. :)

I haven't really found a ton of " good " ways to save a lot of money in this

venture, other than buying in bulk (thanks, Sam's club) and watching the

sales. Otherwise, I've chalked up the better living as worth the expense

in the long run (cheaper than medical bills, I guess).

It is not that just SBD is expensive, eating healthy is expensive.

I bought a bunch of frozen veggies because they were on sale last weekend, except I did buy some cucumbers fresh and bagged salad. I wish I bought green peppers, been wanting them.

Once, a long time ago, I got this huge bag of frozen veggies real cheap at Walmart, but haven't seen it again. It was a really huge bag, had to put it out in the deep freeze, wouldn't fit in the freezer! It had big cauliflower heads, huge slices of carrot, and broccoli i believe. I might check Sam's Club, maybe they'll have something like that.

We probably spend $20-30 more per week on groceries than pre-SBD because the prices of veggies went through the roof down here. We did eat out more before, not a lot, but more than we do now so we're saving $$ there but spending more on groceries but we're eating better so probably a good trade-off. I am trying to talk hubby into putting up a small hothouse so we can grow some veggies year round.

I'm just hoping to keep catching the meat on sale, and will buy veggies according to what's on sale, etc.

They do, at least here. Something like 6lbs of broccoli frozen for $3 or

something. Cheap and very good tasting. Nothing but pure veggies.

I guess I'm lucky. At Winco, they offer 3 pound packages of flash frozen chicken breasts for $6. It takes a little longer to cook, but I'm cool with that.

Re: grocery bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We never bought chicken breasts even before SB! Last time I even looked, it was like $10 for three small breasts, and I'd need 2 for one meal for my family. Just can't afford that. The lunch meat was on sale, 3 packs for $5, so that is WAY cheaper. I only bought 2 thinking it would last a week, but should have stacked up and got a lot more while it was on sale.
