Guest guest
It can go either way. If the energy depletion has been extreme, then brain cells will definitely die and this would most likely show up on a CAT/MRI. If the person is treated right and the energy depletion hasn't been too great, then it probably wouldn't show up. This is what I have been told by my local neuro who sees mito patients. I was told that even if you have diabetes, you should be given large amounts of D10. They did this with my mother and just gave her insulin to counter act the glucose. I have also read that IV Carnitor and increased amounts of CoQ10 are helpful. I think one of the big things is to get treatment early. laurie Reply-To: Date: Sat, 14 Sep 2002 12:28:06 -0000 To: Subject: Stroke like Episodes I have one quick question for you gang........if you have had a " stroke like episode " does the damage to the braine ALWAYS show up on a MRI or CT scan? I have heard conflicting information about this from Mito patients as well as Neuros who are NOT Mito docs and seem to think they know it all-------LOL! Thanks I would appreciate your opinions! ps since I have been out of the loop for several weeks can anyone tell me how Carol Dupont is doing I know she was desperately trying to get an appt with a Mito doc and some answers
