mouth sores with UC

As a nurse (I worked Onocology for many years) we would use several

things for mouth sores; again, i was in oncology and chemo related

mouth sores are probably somewhat different, but maybe this might

help.

If chancer (canker--not sure of spelling) sores are a problem,

sometimes it was related to ibuprofen use and/or lack of vitamins.

(I know Ibuprofen is contraindicated with PSC--at least that's what

I've heard) We often used a good multivit for our patients. Another

thing we would use (not on large sores--small chancer sores)

was " Alum " crystals--I know this sounds strange, but you place one

crystal on the small sore and hold it in place for approx 10-15

seconds. Tastes terrible, but then rinse with lukewarm water. It

sort of cauterizes the small sore. (Old grandma remedy)I use it for

my family.

For serious mouth sores, we would use a solution called " BMX " --it

was liquid Benadryl, Mylanta and Xylocaine--as a " swish and spit " or

a 'swish and swallow " , depending upon how the doctor ordered it. It

seemed to help our patients; I hope something will offer relief to

any of you sufferring with mouth sores. AS ALWAYS, CHECK WITH YOUR

DOCTOR BEFORE TRYING ANY OF THESE ITEMS!

Take care, Tammy
