Guest guest
Hi Pat, Good luck on your surgery! I hope you have minimal scarring and that it is easily removed. Let us know how things go with Dr .Olive. Not to beat a dead horse, but I am curious if the church would be more accepting of IVF if there are no "discarded" embryos? First of all, at my age there is no such thing as extra embryos! I have had 3 IVFs and there haven't been any extras. We gave every one a fair shot in my uterus and only one has made it so far. Second, you can stipulate up front that you want all the extra embryos (if you have any) frozen for future use either by the biological couple of by another couple and you can make this choice ahead of time. Third, you can adjust the dose of FSH to only produce a few follicles and therefore minimize or even eliminate the possibility of extra embryos. So, I guess I don't completely follow the argument. It seems to me that you could manage the IVF so that you could please the church and be blessed with a baby at the same time. Could it be that the church has made a blanket statement about IVF and does not take into consideration individual cases? Would you or could you work with your church so that they would be comfortable, or is this so cast in concrete that there is no way around it? I am not pushing the issue, in fact the contrary. I still believe that this is a personal choice, but these issues fascinate me and I always try to learn more about them. Anyway, good luck and ley us know how it goes!
