Guest guest
This is a disgrace. Why is it that there is so much drinking in the Navy? Just curious. They're also noted for their fondness for tattoos, foul language and sexual promiscuity during shore leave. Guest guest
I was afraid that question would sound dumb. What I meant was, maybe if they could meet their emotional needs without imbibing in alcohol, the alcohol abuse rate would be lower. Do you suppose some inner child work or guided mediation might do it? Yes, my mother warned me about " those guys " , as well as those " other guys " . Somehow the implication was that I was supposed to find a nice husband, while simultaneously staying away from men. Who is the Navy authority I can submit my inner child work proposal to? This may be a good side project. (wink wink) Apple > > Uh, because they're sailors, Apple. Guest guest
Hi apple History maybe? Until well after the war all British sailors received a " rum ration " as part of their payment. Churchill, when First Sea Lord, declared that the Navy ran on " Rum, Bum, and Baccy " . P. appledt-@... wrote: original article:/group/12-step-free/?start=13017 > This is a disgrace. Guest guest
Maybe if they could get more screws while at sea they wouldnt need to drink so much - or if those who are repressed or unrepressed gays could tell, and screw each other when they had a mind to. I'm temporarily living in the boonies with no computer and will be limited for a month or so. I doubt if there is more drinking in the Navy than in the civilian world, but I do know that AA and treatment have not stopped alcohol abuse in either place. Probably Saturday I'll post the second of four parts on the spiritual tyranny thing, and I'll close it with my own opinions on the matter. By the way, I finally received my copy of " Resisting 12 Step Coercion " yesterday and completed my first reading. Congradulations to Chaz on an outstanding job of chapter three, and to Stanton on a superb expose of Talbott. It reads like something from a King novel. Also I should have the " Open Letter " thing ready to go in 2-3 weeks. Thank you for your suggestions, and thank you for your excellent and very important web site.
