Guest guest
casts off yesterday. I know this is supposed to be a wonderful time, but boy is this tough! It took us quite a while to get the shoes to stay put on his feet at the doctor's office. Dr. Herzenberg came in and rescued the 2 nurses who were trying to help me. I took the shoes off last night and Max's feet were a mess. He has pudgy feet and now has oozing cracks in all of his creases around his heels and his toes. I have a very hard time keeping his heels down in the shoes, and a very hard time telling if they are actually down. Sometimes I think Max is just curling his toes up so it looks like his foot has slipped back. Anyway, I'm exhausted. I spoke with Dr. H this morning about the cracks on Max's feet and my inability to get the shoes to stay put and he suggested a KAFO until Max slims down a little or something. At first I agreed and then contacted my husband (conveniently away on business for three days) and we decided to keep trying the shoes for a few more days at least. I called my mother-in-law and she came over to help out. We managed to get the shoes on much better as a team and I think I have it figured out. She also took my 2 year old home with her so I could concentrate on Max. I better go rest while I can. What an experience!
