Guest guest
Sorry, I just posted another message, but I have another question. I don't drink coffee, but I drink a lot of diet coke (like maybe 3 cans a day). I tried to give this up, but when I do, I just feel tired even when I've gotten enough sleep consistently. Did anyone else go through this? I'm a student and can't really afford to be sleepy and out of it... I did Atkins last year and gave up caffeine for a whole semester and besides being depressed (perhaps circumstances, perhaps Atkins), I was just soo tired and never really felt like myself. Any suggestions? Would it be better for me to switch to tea for caffeine rather than diet coke?
Guest guest
The tiredness is most probably a true sign of detox from the caffeine and not a " real body tired-ness " . No one wants to feel tired all the time but caffeine is not a good thing for you even if you are not dieting. You said you did not feel like yourself....but that is your real self not high on caffeine. Try it without the other circumstances and Atkins. I really think that your body will get over it and you can become your real self and not be tired. -Beth caffeine? Did anyone > else go through this? Guest guest
> Did anyone > > else go through this? I'm a student and can't really afford to be > > sleepy and out of it... I'm on SBD and haven't ever given up caffeine for it (in the form of Diet Mt. Dew). While I am not a student, I'm a computer programmer and therefore keep odd hours (I'm a night owl at heart but work an 8-6 job) so I'm constantly tired in the morning. If I didn't have caffeine to get me revved up in the morning I'd be in a sorry state. Yes, I'd be better off just getting more sleep but at this point it won't work out, so I have to do what I have to do. That being said, I've lost weight consistently so far. I don't find (for me) that caffeine increases my hunger, so I don't think it's a deterrant to getting myself thinner. Your mileage may vary. I have found that it's easy to drink a lot more pop when you're on the diet than when you're not because you don't have that " rev " from the constant sugar high and therefore don't feel overstimulated if you combine sugar + caffeine. I don't know. Having been a college student before, keep your caffeine on if you need to -- your education might depend on it. As long as you don't overdo it or let your revved-up self pig out, you should be ok. Guest guest
I gave up caffeine several months ago, actually before i started SBD. I knew that the caffeine withdrawal would be a challenge, so I didn't want to deal with more than one challenge at a time. I've been a slave to "coke" products for so many years. First, I was addicted to coke. Then I switched to diet coke in college. So then I was addicted to the caffeine AND the nutrasweet. Then I heard that nutrasweet wasn't that good, so then I quit diet coke and went back to regular coke! I am now happy to so that I no longer have any "coke" products in my house except for an occasional dasani water. (My husband prefers caffeine-free diet pepsi, which does not tempt me at all.) I do have an occasional diet soda, but only the kind sweetened with splenda or stevia.
