This is just a note to let everyone know that Ellen moiler came through

her surgery just fine today they said she would be in ICU until tomorrow

morning when they do her leak test. So I will let you know more later. I

talked with her husband this morning and then with her nurse a little while

Trace ~ I didn't know that you were new to this group, and with such a

refined *ahem* sense of humor, too! I am still considering the G-string for

my Cedars-S appt this Wednesday... ;-D I'll be sure to post to let you all

know what comes of the appointment.

Anyone?? ~ Any updates on Dolly?

Welcome all newbies, sorry my mind has turned to poop and I don't remember

all your names! Nevertheless, welcome one and all!

Cheryl ~ thanks for the heads up on what you did for exercising, I will

remember that. As far as going a gym is concerned, I will simply see about

signing up for weight training at the local community college, as I should be

able to do that for about $20/semester... OK, so I'm cheap!!!

Sheila ~

Hi everyone, I'm new on the block. I just found and signed up for this

discussion group last night. I've been considering the surgery for a long

time now. My insurance states that it doesn't pay for it. ******Does it not

pay for the surgery or does your insurance not cover obesity? Please note

that I used the word " obesity " and NOT " MORBID OBESITY " , for which most

insurance companies will comply with letting you get the surgery.

I am looking around at different insurance companies to see about getting

coverage for just me and letting the family go with the other insurance that

the job offers. What advice do you have with this situation? ******If you are

close to my weight, you may be uninsurable as I am (we are on COBRA). Just

for me to have health insurance would be around $500/month, and even tho it

is California, I think the insurance industry is pretty much the same across

the board. Have you thought about asking for a surgeon to do it completely

for free? It may take a year, but I have heard of a woman who did this, and

the surgeon got her the whole thing nearly for free, I think she had to come

up with only $1,000 out of her pocket for everything. I don't know about

grants....

Vivian Copeland ~ I have a diet history chart done in MS Word table format.

Would you like to see it and perhaps have a copy to give you an idea/basis

for doing your own? If so, email me at euf27@... and I will send you a

copy. Or you could just see it on my web page... the address is

http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/kapoor/189 No pics, just lots of

information at this point. Either way, let me know....

There is no way we can afford for me to have this surgery without insurance.

(Know any grants out there for us?) :) Thanks. I look forward to chatting

with y'all about the surgery and all that comes with it. Take care and God

bless! Sheila

It doesnt matter when you start-weight training,or how much

you pay for it -as a matter of fact my gym only cast me $20 per mo (i

signed up during a promo-not to mention the fact I always assumed I

was too uncoordinated and self concious to be using weights. When my

weight loss slowed down I got advice from a former 300lb woman who

lost 190 just excercising with weights- muscle burns more calories

than fat and just by keeping the muscle you have during this period

may be eonogh to continue to your goal weight -but i was told to

change the shape you need to BUILD MORE MUSCLE- DONT BE ASHAMED YOU

HAVENT STARTED YET.But I PROMISE you will see a huge difference with

regular use of weights -Im glad to pass along my experience -and I

have leared a ton of things reading posts that go back quite a

while . thanks to all for the good advice and keep it coming--
