Guest guest
My opinion is that it is bad. You are not then in phase one, you are starting in phase two. You will not be resetting your blood chemistry to work efficiently like you should be. The whole point of phase one is to get rid of the sugar and bad carbs in your system and reset your blood chemistry to work more efficiently. You will not be doing that. You cannot say you are on phase one except.... That doesn't work. I would even restrain during the party. You are not doing this just for your weight, but also for your health. It is only for 2 weeks. Anyone can do it for two weeks if they want to. Think about your health and the good you are doing for yourself. Your health is more important than the wine. That's how I felt and 65 pounds later, that's how I still feel. Good luck, Carol New to Group and SB......Question Hello,I am brand new to this board, and started Phase one yesterday. My only slip up was having 2 glasses of wine with dinner last night at our favorite restaurant. Dinner seemed pretty easy, I had a small salad with oil and vinegar dressing, and roasted chicken with asparagas for my meal, I stayed away from the bread and olive oil dipping, and didn't even have a taste of a wonderful desert that was sent over to my daughter compliments of the chef. I think that for me the hardest part of Phase I is going to be abstaining from my nightly glass of wine. If wine is allowed on Phase 2, how bad can it be to have a glass or two while on Phase 1? I plan on abstaining for this week, but I have a dinner party to go to Friday night and I know that I will want to have a glass of wine. How did all of you that have completed Phase 1 deal with these situations? Thanks,DianneReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. Guest guest
I really just had my mind made up that I was going to do Phase 1 and do it all the way through the first time. I went to numerous parties/functions and just said no. The hardest was the super bowl party...but I stuck to my water. The end of that second week got hard. I poured a diet coke into my wine glass and made do! LOL -Beth New to Group and SB......Question > Hello, > > I am brand new to this board, and started Phase one yesterday. Guest guest
Several other people have pretty much said all there is to say about wine in Phase I but I have one thing to add - to follow the plan you must only have wine with food, not by itself. Wine before or after dinner is essentially the same as eating fruit by itself which is also "against the rules." It all has to do with combining foods to keep blood sugar level which, in turn, helps prevent cravings. If wine is allowed on Phase 2, how bad can it be to have a glass or two while on Phase 1? I plan on abstaining for this week, but I have a dinner party to go to Friday night and I know that I will want to have a glass of wine.
