-There's another 'Pat' discussion going on at another hormone group

I'm on right now. He was really insulting to the group owner and the

rest of us and people are really tired of him. He's got some definite

psych issues going on and a super-inflated sense of his own

superiority. If he is Rhoades, then he's more interested in sticking

with his own dogma regardless of studies that show otherwise than

helping patients. And if he isn't Rhoades, it still applies.

He's censored many that were on HHN even though they were kind and

respectful in presenting contrary studies or opinions. He will delete

their posts or put them on moderate status so they can't respond when

he attacks them or their position. So if you are on HHN, you will

never see much disagreement. Pat makes sure of that. I have gotten

to 'know' women who were in his group who tell the same stories over

and over--of getting condescending emails from him and being put on

moderation. I unsubscribed for that reason.

He is continually referring to 'peer-reviewed studies' that supposedly

support his point of view, but when asked to show them, he either

ignores the question or he recently made a hateful statement to the

list owner about the stupidity of something she said, then said " and

you wonder why I don't post the studies " which I took to mean that

we're just too darn stupid to understand them.

Anyway, I debated about even posting this but I've been watching him

stir the pot in many different places. He's too secretive, both about

himself and about posting the supposed 'studies' that are his Holy

Grail. There is no reason not to post studies.

And anyone who wigs out and gets insulting when someone doesn't

totally agree, and cannot have a mature discussion with someone who

has evidence to back up their point, has serious personality and

character flaws, and I for one can't trust his advice or

judgment, regardless of real or imagined credentials

I have not run into this attitude to this extreme with any others who

are forum or list owners. Most do not try to give the impression that

they are something they are not, and are quite open to discussing

alternative studies or opinions as long as it is done respectfully.

Anyway, just a heads up for those who might run into him.

Nell - do you mind telling me how you went about the retesting as what I

have heard to date seems to indicate that testing while on h.c is useless.

Not so?

Thanks Nell for that information

I have never been able to optimise my thyroid hormones and am on T3 only

now, always I run into problems of high pulse and maybe, just maybe, you have

given me a major clue here.

I have asked Val's opinion so I will be interested to her the response.

Thanks again.

Honestly, I don't know. There seem to be a lot of conflicting opinions about

this. Diagnos-

Techs says to come off HC for a few weeks at least before testing, but there's

no way I was

going to do that. What I wanted to know is, am I supplementing HC at the right

amounts

and at the right times?

I took the saliva samples as far away from taking HC as I could. So for instance

I took the

morning sample before taking the morning dose. I also put all HC in gelcaps that

day so it

wouldn't touch my saliva at all.

But even taking those precautions I don't know how meaningful the results I got

were;

certainly some, including D-T, woud say not meaningful at all. But, they did

match up with

symptoms -- high morning cortisol would be a reason I wasn't sleeping well, and

too-high

cortisol would be why my belly fat was expanding by the second. And more

importantly,

once I tailored my dosage to the test results, everything improved. I even

started to go a

little hyper and reduced the Armour.

This is the closest I've ever gotten to the sweet spot of hormones balanced, so

I'd have to

say that the testing definitely helped me.
