I thought that when you take your blood pressure from a sitting and then take it

immediately

upon standing, it should rise to indicate normal cortisol levels. But according

to what

someone else wrote, it looks like it's related to the aldosterone levels and not

cortisol.

" The blood pressure drop on standing from sitting is called postural

hypotension. It is usually

caused in 's patients by a lack of a second hormone normally released by

the

adrenals called aldosterone. This hormone has two main functions. Firstly it

helps control the

blood pressure. Secondly it acts as an antidiuretic, preventing loss of fluid

and sodium. It

is controlled by a feedback mechanism to the pituitary, thus controlling the

release of ADH

(anti-diuretic- hormone). "
